Linsanity. Lincredible. Whatever you want to call it, the Jeremy Lin phenomenon is sweeping across the NBA. He has galvanized not just New York Knicks fans, but NBA fans across the country. And of course an entire generation of young Asian players now have a player to look up to, and give them hope of what heights they could possibly dream to reach. And he will connect with the average young Asian kid in a way Yao Ming never could, because most kids won’t grow to be 7 feet 6 inches talls. Jeremy Lin on the other hand, has proven how a smart kid with a quick first step, playing the game the right way, sharing the ball, getting his teammates involved, can make it in the NBA.

Not only that, he is just a lot more exciting than Yao Ming ever was. If you have seen any Lin highlights, you can just listen to the crowd ooh and aah everytime he touches the ball. With every incredible pass he makes, or ridiculouly contorted layup, he is just a lot more fun to watch than the goofy Yao Ming. And for young fans, his skills are much more relatable to the average Asian playing pick up hoops with his buddies. And for those reasons, Jeremy Lin will have a greater impact on an entire generation of young Asian fans than Yao Ming ever did.

Much mainstream media attention is being paid to today’s Superbowl quarterback Tom Brady: wife, accolades, records, house, hair, etc. All the while the other guy, the guy who beat Brady 4 years ago in the superbowl and quarterbacks a football team in the media capital of the world is being asked mostly about whether his big brother will be playing football next year.

Well one of our readers was quick to point this out:

“Not only is Eli arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the Giants, he is also a pretty multi-faceted guy. He’s devoted to supporting good causes – volunteering in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and leading a campaign to raise $2.5 million for “The Eli Manning Children’s Clinics” at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, Mississippi. He’s also the NY Celebrity Chairman for the March of Dimes.”

And on top of that, the guy apparently design’s his own watches for charity instead of just modeling for them.

The NBA is back and to celebrate we’re releasing our top 10 list of the most influential independent NBA team bloggers.

We compiled our list using a weighted average formula consisting of Twitter followers, Klout score, Alexa, PeerIndex, Google Page Rank and Followerwonk. We looked at those who covered only one specific team, versus those who covered the NBA as a whole.

Congratulations to all the writers on the blogs that made the list. Your voice has filled the gap left by all the big sports websites and newspapers and provided every diehard NBA fan the fix they need for 24/7 coverage of their team. You guys rock.

Have you ever been in a fantasy league where a trade is pending that benefits all parties involved, but somehow gets vetoed because there are a few spiteful parties that don’t want to see some teams improve? Well that’s basically what David Stern has done with the vetoing of the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers.

Now this was a trade that all three teams involved seemed to be very happy with. And yes there is a conflict of interest because the NBA currently owns the Hornets, and Stern has some vested interest in keeping Paul on the Hornets. But if he is going to block Paul from going to the Lakers, will he let him go anywhere? I mean if his stance is he doesn’t want small market teams losing their star players to big market teams, where can Paul go?

And coming off the fiasco that was the NBA lockout, Stern is already on thin ice. And now this, which in my eyes is the final straw. Stern must go, because he has clearly lost touch with reality. Him blocking the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers is absolutely ridiculous, and Stern should resign immediately.

Usually when Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert gets angry, he fires up the ol’ laptop and bangs out a <strike>comic sans</strike> comical letter for all the world to see.

This was no different today when Gilbert got wind of the trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, and sent an email to Commissioner David Stern, which Yahoo! Sports eventually leaked and now has everyone talking about owners colluding.

So I decided to pay a visit to D-Gib’s wikipedia page and sure enough, it was hacked. And because this will be probably be taken down very soon, here is a screenshot of what it reads right now, Thursday, 11:00pm pacific time.

My guess is this was either hacked by an angry Laker fan, a diehard LeBron fan, or an annoyed David Stern.
