Belichick on Lewis, Ohrnberger & Brown

New England Patriots Blog | ESPN Boston — Patriots coach Bill Belichick held his standard day-after-game conference call with reporters this afternoon (5 p.m.). Even after roster is set, expect movement. Belichick said the team will make its decisions to trim the roster to 53 players by Saturday’s deadline, and then put together the practice squad by Sunday. Yet from the sound of it, players on the back end of the roster shouldn’t get too comfortable. “I’m sure there will be some moving parts as we get into the early part of next week, as there always are,” Belichick said. Phones are busy in a draft-lik...

Ghiaciuc, who had the most NFL experience in the battle for the backup center/guard job, was a longshot to make the 53-man roster. The competition for the top center/guard backup spot is one of the final roster decisions the Patriots figured to be evaluating Thursday night against the Giants. Second-year players Ryan Wendell and Rich Ohrnberger and rookie Ted Larsen are the top candidates. Ohrnberger, the 2009 fourth-round draft choice, started at right guard in the preseason finale.

  • For those that care, the hair is still there Chicago White Sox Blog | ESPN Chicago BOSTON – The hair was still there, but so was Manny Ramirez’ barber. When Ramirez met the media Friday at Fenway Park, the most famous dreadlocks in baseball were still resting on his back. But his barber was standing at his side. It’s anybody’s guess what Ramirez’s appearance will be Saturday, and whether or not he will start abiding by chairman Jerry Reinsdorf’s appearance standards that require a well-shorn look. With the remnants of a hurricane bearing down on the Boston area Friday night, perhaps all that hair will be blown away. Then again, Dodgers ...
