Assou-Ekotto now has the freedom of movement. Benoit Assou-Ekotto took a parting shot at Tottenham after the club decided to release the defender and cancel his contract. Assou-Ekotto, 30, signed for Spurs from Lens in 2006, making 204 appearances and scoring four times for the White Hart Lane club before joining Queens Park Rangers on loan for the 2013-14 season.
