Everton's Howard hopes to be 'Given' Guzan's USMNT spot

Tim Howard has taken a sabbatical from playing with the USMNT, and now he wants to come back. After the World Cup, United States international and Everton keeper Tim Howard decided to take some time off from playing for Jurgen Klinsmann's USMNT side. That naturally meant that number-two (and Aston Villa keeper) Brad Guzan would become the new first-choice for the US. Since then, Guzan has performed spectacularly for his country, especially in this summer's Gold Cup. There has been plenty of talk that maybe the US would be better in sticking with Guzan as the starter even after Howard made...

Sherwood ends speculation on Villa goalkeeper

Tim Sherwood has made it clear that Brad Guzan is his number-one keeper headed into the season. Earlier today, Herbert wrote an article wondering what Aston Villa's goalkeeper situation would be this season. Rumours had been swirling that Brad Guzan was available and with Jed Steer and Mark Bunn in the team, there was a chance that the USMNT keeper would be on his way out of Villa Park. But there wasn't much of a chance. And now we can put the thought to bed, as Sherwood has come out and said that Guzan is his first-choice keeper to begin the season. Behind him will be Steer with the...

Villa unlikely to sell Gold Cup star Guzan for reported price

A report in the Mail says that Aston Villa are willing to sell Brad Guzan for £3 million. That seems very unlikely. Brad Guzan may be the next Aston Villa player headed out the door if a report in the Daily Mail is to be believed. Joe Bernstein writes that Tim Sherwood is still looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper and that the manager would be willing to let Guzan go for a mere £3 million. So if you're a Guzan fan, start your panicking now. Or don't. This is the first report I've seen in a few weeks saying that Guzan could leave, and the number seems to be pulled out of thin air...

Brad Guzan looks set to resume place as first-choice goalkeeper

After an end-of-season demotion and rampant transfer speculation, Brad Guzan looks set to regain the Aston Villa #1 'keeper spot. There has been plenty of speculation that Brad Guzan would leave Aston Villa after his end-of-season demotion, but we may be able to finally put that to bed. According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Tim Sherwood is ready to stop looking for new keepers and return Guzan to first-choice status between the sticks. The move comes despite (or perhaps because) of the recent departure of Shay Given, who took Guzan's spot after the latter's disastorous match...

Brad Guzan's wife throws shade after USWNT midfield goal in WWC

Carli Lloyd scored an astonishing goal for the USWNT against Japan in the Women's World Cup. But Brad Guzan's wife noticed some similarities to another. In April 2014, Swansea's Jonjo Shelvey hit one of the best goals of the Premier League season when he volleyed from nearly midfield over the head of Brad Guzan. It was an absolutely stunning effort and since it didn't result in Villa being relegated, I don't think there is any harm in us watching it again to refresh our memories. If you watched the Women's World Cup final tonight, you saw eventual golden-ball winner Carli Lloyd score a...
