De Gea hits out at media "lies"

Apparently, him and Louis are the best of friends. Manchester United's goalkeeper David de Gea has been reading the reports in Spain, and is not at all pleased. Indeed, he's of the opinion that AS, who yesterday reported on a supposed rift between the goalkeeper and Louis van Gaal, have been telling porkies. Or whatever that is in Spanish. Jamonies? Everything that has been written in the press about us not getting on is a lie. We both want the best for the club and the team, and the stories are complete lies. De Gea was talking to MUTV, and he went on to tell United's in-house propaganda...

De Gea and Van Gaal "aren't talking" — Spanish reports

"Frank, please inform Louis that I am not speaking with him ..." When you say up, AS say down. When you say tea, AS say coffee. And when most of the rest of the papers say that David de Gea is edging closer to signing a new contract with Manchester United, AS say that he and Louis van Gaal's relationship has totally collapsed, and he will soon be running to the welcoming arms of Real Madrid. According to the Spanish sportspaper: it's not Real Madrid's interest in the player that's the number one reason behind De Gea's itchy feet - it's his poor relationship with Van Gaal. The coach hasn't...

David de Gea close to United extension – reports

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly happy with his current goalkeeping options. Stop laughing at the back. A whole spate of stories came through last night suggestign that David de Gea is close to extending his contract with Manchester United. Various outlets, including a couple of semi-reputable ones like the Mirror and the Daily Mail, write that Carlo Ancelotti has decided he's happy with his rather dodgy current options of Iker Casillas and Keylor Navas, paving the way for de Gea to renew with United. However, even if de Gea was to sign a new deal at Old Trafford, it probably wouldn't all look...

United send scouts to Italy to monitor strike duo

United had scouts at Inter's convincing win over Palermo on Sunday, and reports suggest they were watching two Argentine strikers. After years and years of troubles in midfield, Manchester United are now in the odd position of having sufficient depth in the centre of the park and issues just about everywhere else. David de Gea's potential departure means we need a potential new goalkeeper (unless he moves imminently, in which case Victor Valdés should be fine); save for Marcos Rojo and perhaps Phil Jones, United are still questionable at the centre of defence; and while the jury is still...

David de Gea's agent reveals United renewal talks

Could this contractual saga have a happy ending after all? By now, most Manchester United fans have probably resigned themselves to the fact that David de Gea will leave Old Trafford at the end of his current contract. The Spniard will opt to move on to Real Madrid and establish himself as Iker Casillas' long term heir; going on to win more Champions League and La Liga medals than you could fill a Krispy Kreme doughnut cabinet with. However, there may yet be good news at the end of this tiresome contractual saga, with Big Dave's agent, Jorge Mendes, declaring that talks are currently...

De Gea will reject Real Madrid ... according to his agent

United's goalkeeper is happy in Manchester, apparently. Jorge "Georgie" Mendes is, if we're being honest, the man who really runs football. Agent to the stars, éminence grise behind many a throne, and the man who handles the transfers of, among other people, Manchester United goalkeeper and great llama-like hope David de Gea. So when words come out of his mouth, they do so for a reason. And when they are following words, in the following order ... De Gea has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchester. The player will decide, but he's happy there, at the...
