Santiago Vergini comes in at right back, allowing Wes Brown to switch back to his more familiar central position where he renews his partnership with ex-Manchester United defender John O'Shea. Will Buckley makes his full debut in place of Adam Johnson who is ruled out through illness but Sunderland are otherwise unchanged from the team who drew 2-2 at West Brom last week.
