Ryan Mason back, Nacer Chadli out for Spurs League Cup semifinal

Tottenham Hotspur got some good news as Ryan Mason returned to training this week and will be available for the first leg of their League Cup semifinal tie on Wednesday. Mason has been out since New Year's Day, when he hurt his hamstring. Joining him in the "available" category is Younes Kaboul, who had been sick. Unfortunately, Nacer Chadly will not be available for the match asfter a member of his family passed away. Our condolences are with him and his family. Federico Fazio, Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches will all miss the semifinal as well. Fazio has an illnes, while Lamela's calf...

Spurs will be missing several center backs heading into this weekend's match with the Black Cats. In other news, JD Trouble could start. Defensive crisis! This being the transfer window and all, Kaboul has naturally been linked for a move away from Spurs... and ironically to the team he last played against. Comments today from Besiktas' vice president have confirmed interest in the French defender......

Besiktas preparing bid for frozen-out Spurs defender Kaboul

So that's why he got that start! The season of Tottenham Hotspur's Younes Kaboul has been a strange one. After losing nearly two full years to injury, he returned match-fit this fall. The French center back was named club co-captain and appeared to be ahead even of Jan Vertonghen on the depth chart. His play was at best rocky, though Kaboul did have some solid matches in games where he was not forced to defend any one-on-ones. On November 9th, Spurs were defeated at home 1-2 by Stoke City with Kaboul picking up a yellow card and generally having a poor match. And then he disappeared. Kaboul...
