Grading the Julius Thomas and potentially Branden Albert trade

Grading the Julius Thomas and potentially Branden Albert trade

Today’s splashy move is tomorrow’s disappointment, at least that’s the way it usually works for the Dolphins. The Jaguars and Dolphins are said to be finalizing a deal that would send tight end Julius Thomas to the Dolphins for a late-round pick in 2017. The other deal, which could come as soon as Tuesday according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport involves Miami sending left tackle Branden Albert to Jacksonville in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2018.

Jimmy Butler not expecting Bulls to trade him

Chicago Bulls guard/forward Jimmy Butler feels that he'll remain in Chicago past the trade deadline, unless "something crazy happens." What It Means: The Bulls have been fielding calls for Butler, but they don't appear to be too eager to deal their All-Star ahead of Thursday's trade deadline. If "something crazy" were to happen, it would likely involve the Boston Celtics and their coveted possession of the Brooklyn Nets' 2017 draft pick. Butler is averaging career-highs in points (24.5), rebounds (6.3) and assists (5.0) per game this season, and he currently ranks sixth in the...

Trading DeMarcus Cousins was not the worst move in NBA history

Trading DeMarcus Cousins was not the worst move in NBA history

Pelicans received: DeMarcus Cousins, Omri Casspi Kings received: Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans, Top 3 protected 2017 first-round pick, second-round pick There’s only one team in the NBA capable of producing such a visceral and immediate reaction to a trade as the Kings, and the second reports came through that DeMarcus Cousins was being shipped to New Orleans (or since Cousins was there for All-Star weekend, maybe Sacramento can just send his stuff via mail now?) every NBA fan was able to recognize the simple truth: The Pelicans won the trade by such a wide margin it should...

Dolphins acquire Julius Thomas from Jaguars in separate deal

The Miami Dolphins acquired tight end Julius Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a late-round pick in the 2017 draft. What It Means: This deal is independent of the Branden Albert trade, which was originally expected to be a one-for-one swap for Thomas. He turns 29 in June and is coming off two extremely disappointing years in Jacksonville, catching nine touchdowns in 21 games. The move to Miami does reunite Thomas with Adam Gase, who was the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos when the tight end was a fantasy stud during Peyton Manning's final glory days....
