Rockies sign Aaron Cook to minor-league deal

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Colorado Rockies signed pitcher Aaron Cook, who was released by the Phillies Tuesday, to a minor-league deal Thursday. Cook spent the first 10 years of his major-league career with the Rockies, including his All-Star season in 2008. "The Phillies were going to send me to Triple-A, but I was talking with my kids and they said, 'Why not pitch for the Rockies?' " Cook told the Denver Post. "That made a lot of sense to me, and we were able to work something out." Cook allowed seven earned runs in 18 2/3 innings with the Phillies this spring.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Phillies released pitcher Aaron Cook Tuesday, reports CSN Philadelphia. Cook, 34, had a solid spring for Philadelphia with a 1-0 record and 3.38 ERA over 18 2/3 innings. He had just five strikeouts. Cook went 4-11 for the Red Sox last year with a 5.65 ERA. He's gone 13-29 with a 5.54 ERA over the last three seasons with Colorado and Boston.
