That made Adrian Beltre's three-run home run in Sunday's 12-7 victory over Houston at Minute Maid Park the most memorable moment in a win that clinched a three-game sweep of the struggling Astros. The Rangers start a new week with the best record in baseball at 24-13. Beltre's fifth-inning homer gave the Rangers a 12-1 lead. Big deal, right? Well it was because the umpiring crew had to go to instant replay to get the call right.

Motivating Beltre backfires on Red Sox

Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Adrian Beltre agreed with Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell's decision to intentionally walk Lance Berkman to get to Beltre in the bottom of the ninth Sunday afternoon. He even said he would have done it. That doesn't mean it didn't motivate the Rangers' emerging cleanup hitter, especially since Farrell made the same choice in the seventh inning. The rest of the league might not like it much after Beltre's walk-off single with two outs in the ninth beat Boston 4-3 and finished off a three-game sweep of the team that entered the weekend with baseball's best record.
