With Delmon Young designated for assignment yesterday, the Orioles are down to eight pending free agents on their roster. They began the season with 11. Alejandro De Aza has flashed ‘the De Aza way’ and Red Sox like it

TORONTO — After now watching Alejandro De Aza run around he outfield as a member of the Red Sox for 20 games now, it was asked if the “hair on fire” approach was what we should get used to. “That’€™s the De Aza way,” the outfielder explained. “That’€™s how I like to play the game. […]

Mookie And Brock Deliver 10th-Inning Sox Win

(AP Photo)Signs and wonders. The Red Sox took on the first-place Tampa Bays Rays tonight and actually beat them—a 10-inning 4-3 victory. Mookie Betts (extending his hitting streak to 13) sent a lead-off tenth-inning double to left and was plated on a clutch single to center by (who else?) Brock Holt. Rick Porcello managed not to lose another start—although he did blow a 3-1 lead in the no-decision. Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Alejandro De Aza got the other RBIs as Boston sliced its deficit to eight games in the American League East.

Red Sox minor lines: It should be time for Jackie Bradley Jr.

With Alejandro De Aza getting so much time, there just has to be room for Jackie Bradley Jr. in Boston. Pawtucket W 5-3 Jackie Bradley Jr: 3-4, 2B, BB, SBRyan Hanigan: 2-3, BB, KGarin Cecchini: 1-4Deven Marrero: 3-4, 2BSean Coyle: 0-3 Keith Couch: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K You'd never know Keith Couch had a no-hitter going into the seventh. Or that Jackie Bradley Jr. can't (or at least hasn't shown the ability to) hit in the majors. As it stands he's hitting .325/.403/.475 in 200 at bats at Pawtucket now. I can understand that Alejandro De Aza is at least playing reasonably well...

Daily Red Sox Links: Xander Bogaerts, David Ortiz, Andrew Benintendi

Today's links look at choosing Alejandro De Aza over Jackie Bradley, the team's offensive approach, and updates on a couple of injured players. It's not all bad news in Red Sox land, as Xander Bogaerts is blossoming into a star before our eyes. (Rob Bradford; WEEI.com) On the other side of things, David Ortiz has been abysmal at the plate, and pitchers are attacking him differently now. (Jason Mastrodonato; Boston Herald) The trade that brought Alejandro De Aza to Boston kept Jackie Bradley in Pawtucket. Why did the Red Sox choose the former over the latter? (Bryan Grosnick; BP...

De Aza has it all covered

De Aza has it all covered

It’s been a next-man-up mentality for the Red Sox when it comes to the corner outfielders this season, and not all of it has to do with injuries. The production from left and right field has been lacking, and in this turnstile season, it was Alejandro De Aza’s turn to try to take a spin. The newest outfield acquisition was in the lineup for the second straight game yesterday, again facing the Oakland A’s at Fenway Park, only this time he started in right instead of left with David Ortiz taking his usual DH spot and Hanley Ramirez moving back to left.
