Alejandro De Aza trading hits for homers

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Fantasy owners were snooping on Alejandro De Aza's page Wednesday, as he has lingered on the most-viewed players list for much of the day. Given that De Aza has just one RBI over the last five games, it is hard to understand all of the sudden interest in him. De Aza's power has been impressive this season, as he is posting a career-high .189 isolated slugging percentage. Unfortunately, that increase has come with a huge spike in his strikeout rate and a drop in his batting average. De Aza is still putting up a solid .320 batting average on balls in play, but his batting average overall is just...

He also surrendered a two-run double to Dayan Viciedo in the fourth before being pulled. The right-hander was removed after throwing 70 pitches and finished with two walks and two strikeouts while earning the no-decision. Enright is expected to be moved back to the bullpen.

White Sox 6, Mets 3: Dormant offense comes to life for Peavy's return

South Side Sox — Simply disgusted with the White Sox scoreless ten innings last night, Alejandro De Aza began today's game with a line drive home run to right. Hawk giggled. And Jake Peavy took the mound for his first start since April 26th, with a lead under his belt. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Mets' Lucas Duda answered with his own lead-off blast to the upper deck in right field; and when Peavy walked Mike Baxter an out later, the feelings of doom and gloom lingered ever-so-slightly and ever-so-temporarily. The next batter Ike Davis hit a ball to deep center field and Dewayne Wise tracke...

Weak-hitting White Sox wake up with 13 hits in 6-3 win

Chicago Sun-Times — NEW YORK -- The White Sox went out of character and strung together some hits -- a season-high four in a three-run third and three in a row to produce another run in the seventh in a 6-3 victory against the New York Mets on Wednesday night. The American League’s worst offense woke up by matching their season high with 13 hits, giving Jake Peavy a quick 1-0 lead when Alejandro De Aza led off the game with his sixth homer and providing the right-hander a three-run cushion in the third. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez made two d...

White Sox 5, Rangers 2: Chris Sale holds off Texas until homers arrive

South Side Sox — What looked like a replay of Tuesday night turned into what passes as a convincing victory for the White Sox these days. Conor Gillaspie opened the seventh with a homer of Nick Tepesch to break a 2-2 tie, and after a Tyler Flowers single, Alejandro De Aza also put one over the fence in the right-field corner to provide a cushion that Chris Sale and the bullpen wouldn't need. Sure, they tying run came to the plate in the eighth and ninth innings, but Jesse Crain, Matt Thornton and Addison Reed escaped unscathed to end a three-game skid. White Sox 3, Indians 2: Rios homer helps end four-game slide

South Side Sox — The White Sox jumped out to an early lead when Alejandro De Aza walked and stole second to start the game, then scored on a Jeff Keppinger single. They added two much needed insurance runs in the fifth inning on an Alex Rios home run. Jose Quintana went 5+ innings, stretching his scoreless innings streak to 18⅔ innings before losing a bit of control in the sixth inning. 'The dreaded lead off walk' came around to score and his day was done. He left the game with runners on the corners and nobody out. Nate Jones let one more cross the plate, but the bullpen did their job as Jones, Matt T...
