Red Sox Blog | Providence Journal — By Sports staffFORT MILL, S.C. -- Alfredo Aceves coughed up an early lead and the Pawtucket Red Sox saw their six-game winning streak end Sunday as the Charlotte Knights rallied for a 6-4 victory. Alfredo Aceves just a phone call away

"While he's in the starting role there, we feel like that's the best place for him to gain that consistency, and yet he wouldn't be the only option if a...

The Tao of Alfredo Aceves

Red Sox Blog | Providence Journal — By Brian MacPherson AP /Winslow TownsonPAWTUCKET -- It's become easy to characterize Alfredo Aceves as a cartoon villain. Not since the trade of Josh Beckett last August has the removal of a player from the Red Sox roster been met with so much pleasure from the fan base. A cartoon villain, however, would have thrown a tantrum upon receiving the news he'd been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. A cartoon villain would have refused to accept such a degrading assignment, would have trashed his locker, held out, demanded a trade. But there Aceves was at McCoy Stadium on Saturday afternoon, sittin...

Full Count | WEEI — Can Alfredo Aceves remain a part of the Red Sox organization? Does the team need to trade him, or can he continue to offer value to the team with whom he signed in February 2011, delivering one brilliant season out of the bullpen, one wildly erratic year as a closer (who ultimately lost that job) [...]

Ryan Lavarnway on the level

Boston HeraldRyan Lavarnway’s ideal approach at the plate doesn’t differ greatly from the one he hopes to take in his latest stint with the Red Sox: be patient, stay disciplined and keep a level head.Having optioned Alfredo Aceves to Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday night, the Sox recalled the 25-year-old Lavarnway yesterday for his first major league action of the season.
