Injured Andrew McCutchen out of Pirates lineup Saturday vs. Blue Jays

TORONTO — Andrew McCutchen was left out of the Pirates lineup Saturday for their afternoon game against the Blue Jays. McCutchen injured his left knee — “patellofemoral discomfort,” officially — while leading off of second base in a 4-2 win Friday. After the game, McCutchen was optimistic he had not done serious damage and said he hoped to play Saturday.

TORONTO — Andrew McCutchen exited in the third inning of the Pirates game Friday with an apparent left leg injury. He reached second base on an RBI double off Toronto Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman. Two plays later, McCutchen summoned the team’s athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk and limped to the dugout.
