It’s early. Anything that feels like an issue today could be resolved in a month. Strengths could become weaknesses, depth could grow thin, and players barely on the radar could end up playing a pivotal role. It’s just too early to know much of anything. But among the early hot-button topics here in Tampa is […]The post Pettitte: “CC’s got everything it takes to be successful” appeared first on The LoHud Yankees Blog.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Over their years together, Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia grew to be close friends. With Sabathia's velocity again a question, Pettitte has advised Sabathia about a possible transformation. "The biggest thing for me is I'm trying to tell him don't worry about it," Pettitte said. TAMPA, Fla. -- As Andy Pettitte recalls his conversations with Derek Jeter last year, there were hints Jeter was thinking about retirement. When Pettitte and Mariano Rivera spoke about the future, Jeter, struggling to come back from a variety of injuries, would joke around. "He wold be like, 'You guys better retire or I'm going to get on out of here before you guys,'" said Pettitte, who was in camp on Monday as a two-day special instructor. "I kind of looked at him like, 'Yeah, right, whatever.
