May 18, 2013New York Post Cc Sabathia is the resident ace based on past performance and salary. Andy Pettitte, who went on the disabled list yesterday with an upper back muscle problem is the wise old head others go to for advice. Then there is Hiroki Kuroda, who is easily the Yankees’ best pitcher. Kuroda...

New York Yankees May 17, 2013New York Daily News On the same night the Yankees learned they'd lose Andy Pettitte for at least a 15-day stint on the disabled list, Hiroki Kuroda offered the club's starting rotation some stability with a masterful performance.
New York Yankees May 17, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The Yankees have officially placed starter Andy Pettitte on the 15-day disabled list with a strained trapezius muscle. Pettitte, who left Thursday's start against the Mariners, was pretty "spasm'd up," according to general manager Brian Cashman. Cashman also told reporters that his injury is considered "minor" and that the team was willing to make the "safe play" by taking a cautious approach with his injury. The 40-year-old lefty went 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in eight starts before landing on the disabled list.
May 17, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The Yankees have recalled starting pitcher Vidal Nuno, the Star-Ledger reports. Nuno will take the place of Andy Pettitte, who landed on the disabled list Friday with a strained trapezius. Nuno has not allowed a run over eight innings with the Yankees, including five shutout innings in his first career start against Cleveland on May 13. It's unclear how long Pettitte will be out of action, but Nuno appears to be in line for at least two starts.
May 17, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy I think manager Joe Girardi put it best after Andy Pettitte had to leave his latest start Thursday with lingering tightness in his back. "He is 40 years old, and we're probably going to go through this probably a little bit," Girardi told reporters after the game. You don't often see pitchers throwing 180 innings in their 40s, but for a non-strikeout pitcher like Pettitte to make a significant impact in Fantasy, he'll pretty much need to do that. If he's perpetually at risk of missing his next start because of this ache or that pain, you have to ask yourself if he's really worth the trouble. E...
May 17, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The Yankees have not decided on the next step for starter Andy Pettitte, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, the Star-Ledger reports. Manager Joe Girardi said the lefty will be placed on the disabled list if he is unable to make his next start. Pettitte was removed from his last start Thursday after 4 2/3 innings after feeling muscle spasms in his left trapezius. He said he felt better Friday, but he still wasn't sure if he would be available for Tuesday's game against Baltimore.
May 17, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte told ESPN that the tightness in his left trapezius muscle was nothing more serious than a muscle spasm. However, the 40-year-old lefty is still not sure if he'll be able to make his next start."Obviously, I'm realistic," Pettitte said. "I know how these guys are. I asked them if I could stay out there and try to get through it out there. So I'm hoping it's a spasm and it settles down. I can't tell you I've had this before. I haven't, so I don't know, but I don't feel like it's tight right now. I feel like it's loosened up and relaxed, so that's a good sign." He sa...
