Blue Jays option Anthony Alford

Blue Jays option Anthony Alford

Who do you think will be called up? The Blue Jays optioned Anthony Alford to Buffalo after today’s game. I don’t understand sending him out after only 12 at bats, but it isn’t my decision to make. They say the corresponding move will be made before Tuedays game. It’s not Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Or at least I’m relatively sure it isn’t Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. But it could be. But it isn’t. Might be. Isn’t. Should be. Isn’t. By Tuesday I’ll have myself talked into it being him. I don’t know who is coming up. Steve Pearce is still a ways from being able to play....

Thursday’s lineup

Thursday’s lineup

Curtis Granderson is back at the top of the order for the Blue Jays. Teoscar Hernandez moves to cleanup. Kendrys Morales bats 8th. I’m glad that Granderson is back, but I’m not thrilled that Dalton Pompey and Anthony Alford will, most likely, end up sitting more than I would like. But then that’s life. I thought Pompey and Alford looked pretty good in their handful of at bats. #BlueJays vs #Mariners ... pic.twitter.com/1Gtg3kVFrn— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) May 10, 2018

Blue Jays Get No-Hit by Canadian James Paxton

Blue Jays Get No-Hit by Canadian James Paxton

Mariners 5 Blue Jays 0 That was just lousy. We couldn’t pitch. Well, Stroman couldn’t pitch, our bullpen pitched well. We couldn’t field. Only one official error, but Smoak made two errors on one play (just called one error) and then messed up the ball hit at him, but Solarte at second saved him. Josh Donaldson made a bad throw. Anthony Alford dribbled a ball. And we couldn’t hit. Underline that one. James Paxton no hit us. Paxton just up just 3 walks, and got 7 strikeouts. The only baserunners we had were Smoak, Morales and Alford, who each took a walk. There was really only...

Blue Jays Roster Moves: Smoak Activated, Urena Down

Blue Jays Roster Moves: Smoak Activated, Urena Down

And today’s lineup Today’s roster move is a boring one, Justin Smoak comes back from paternity leave. I’m sure he hasn’t slept in the past couple of days. Richard Urena is the one that goes down to the minors again, without getting an at bat. I wondered if it would be one of the extra outfielders who would be heading back to Buffalo. We’ll see him again this year. Today’s lineup. Anthony Alford plays left today. Good to get him into a game. Kendrys is still in the lineup, I’m imaging we’ll hear a bunch about how well he hits Archer (.516/.531/1.000, with 3 home runs, in 31...

Blue Jays’ Anthony Alford reportedly set to join team

According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet, Anthony Alford will be joining the Toronto Blue Jays today according to industry sources. If Anthony Alford is indeed promoted it would likely signal a DL stint for outfielder Curtis Granderson who left last nights contest in the first inning with an apparent hamstring injury after hitting a double and […] Blue Jays’ Anthony Alford reportedly set to join team - Jays Journal - Jays Journal - A Toronto Blue Jays Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Anthony Alford to join Blue Jays

Anthony Alford to join Blue Jays

Shi Davidi tweeted that Anthony Alford will be joining the Blue Jays today in Tampa. That suggests that Curtis Granderson is out, at least for a couple of days. It might not necessarily mean that Granderson is going to the DL. Perhaps they will send a reliever out, if Granderson is day-to-day. Tim Mayza pitched the last two days, so they might be thinking of sending him out. Alford is hitting .154/.182/.143 in 19 games at Buffalo, not exactly numbers that should get someone promoted, but such is life. If Granderson was to go onto the DL, then Dwight Smith could have been called up, which...

More Jays Roster Moves: Dwight Smith up, Gift Ngoepe down

More Jays Roster Moves: Dwight Smith up, Gift Ngoepe down

And the Jays lineup for game one. The roster moves are never ending today. The Jays have called up Dwight Smith Jr. Gift Ngoepe goes down. Ngoepe isn’t needed anymore with Donaldson back. Now Yangervis Solarte and Lourdes Gurriel can split time at second and the utility spot. Russell Martin can also go into an infield spot in an emergency. Why Smith over Dalton Pompey or Anthony Alford? Well, Pompey hasn’t played since Monday so something is going on there. And Alford hasn’t found his swing yet. After coming back from the DL he’s hitting .194/.265/.226 in 8 games. Not that...
