B.J. Upton's free-fall continues

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Braves outfielder B.J. Upton extended his latest dubious streak during the 1,000th game of his career Sunday at San Francisco. Upton went 0 for 3 with a pair of strikeouts, the seventh consecutive game he whiffed (13 total in that span). The elder Upton brother, who has been dropped back to seventh in the batting order following a failed attempt near the top, has trudged through four separate streaks this season of at least four straight games with a strikeout. That has resulted in a total of 47 strikeouts -- the third-highest amount in the National League -- compared to just 19 hits in 124 at...

Braves to try B.J. Upton as No. 2 hitter

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez dropped struggling veteran B.J. Upton into the second spot in the lineup Tuesday against the Reds in an attempt to jump-start his offense. Gonzalez is hoping Upton will see more fastballs hitting in front of his brother, Justin Upton. Also, Gonzalez likes Upton's speed out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup. "There's nobody else in that lineup, when you look at it, that's going to hit second, that is a baserunner," Gonzalez said, per MLB.com. "It's not [Brian] McCann. It's not [Evan] Gattis. I like Danny [Uggla] where he's at swinging the bat right now. Maybe getting...
