Game Recap: Air Yordan Goes Yard Again. 4 Astros Homers Enough to Fend Off Brew Crew, 10-8.

Brewers fall short in slugfest. A pitcher’s duel this game was not. There were 18 runs scored tonight, 23 hits, 57 total bases. Astros starter Brad Peacock allowed four runs in 6.1 innings, and was damn lucky to get off that lightly. After allowing a first inning double to Christian Yellich, who scored on a Yasmani Grandal single, Peacock managed to strand three runners to escape the first inning allowing only one run. In the third Christian Yellich homered, his 25th of the season; in this case Peacock was in good company, joining the every growing pitchers’ self-help group called...

It’s the second day of the rest of our lives. Join the discussion. It’s Yordan Alvarez week. With humongous expectations Sunday in his first Big League start, the titanic rookie did not disappoint. A home run in his second Big League at bat sparked a 4-0 Astros win over the Baltimore Orioles. But tonight it is not the worst team in baseball that the Stros face, but last season’s NLCS finalists, the Milwaukee Brewers, featuring All-Everything Christian Yellich. For more insight on this game and the two game series, go here. Tonight Brad Peacock (5-3, 3.20 ERA) grabs the banner for the...

Sixty two games down, one hundred more to go. May they be as exciting and fun as the ones we’ve already seen. Brad Peacock tries to shut down the Mariners tonight to secure a series victory. Can he? Will he? Join the discussion. The Astros exploded last night, scoring 11 runs, the kids coming through again. One unexpected benefit of the injuries to so many of our star players is that it has given Myles Straw and Derek Fisher a chance to prove what they are worth. They may end up traded, but the Astros are now in a better position to get fair value now that they have shown the league what...

Game 57 Thread: May 31st, 2019, 9:10 CDT, Astros vs. A’s

Brad Peacock starts the series against the A’s and Mike Fiers. Will he be no-hit Fiers or Dumpster Fiers? Join the discussion. The Astros are on the road after a 6-4 home stand, one marred by critical injuries to core players; George Springer, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve. And that’s just some of them. With all that, they still beat the Red Sox two out of three, as well as the Cubs. The A’s have won 10 of the last 12, but the two losses were the last two games they have played. Brad Peacock goes to the mound for the good guys tonight, hoping to keep his 12 inning scoreless streak...

Game Recap: Astros Blow Ninth Inning Lead, Snatch 4-3 win on Correa Walk-off Hit.

Game Recap: Astros Blow Ninth Inning Lead, Snatch 4-3 win on Correa Walk-off Hit.

Brad Peacock’s strong six shutout innings results in no-decision in Astros win. Can a pitcher get a win at the same time as he gets a blown save? I mean, is it fair, when the closer blows the lead that the starting pitcher struggled for six innings to hand him, to then be rewarded with the W. The answer is, somehow, yes, as counter-intuitive as that seems. I’ve always hated that rule of scoring games, and yet tonight, somehow, it feels right. Roberto Osuna, who holds the Astros record for most consecutive saves without a blown save, was sent into the game in the ninth inning to preserve...

It’s Verlander time! Watch out Sox. Join the discussion If it’s not one thing, it’s the other. Good things that is, when you’re talkin about our Stros. Bats are a little quieter of late, but last night five pitchers provided a shutout, so it’s OK. Brad Peacock got his fifth win, with little help from Jake Marisnick, who got his fifth home run. (And Tyler White finally got his first) If the Sox couldn’t hit Peacock, good luck with Justin Verlander tonight. And good luck to Dylan Covey, Verlander’s mound opponent. Here’s the lineup and the media access information. #JVDay ...

Astros: Brad Peacock is getting his groove back as a starter

Astros’ pitcher Brad Peacock has been shutting down his opponents in his last few outings and seems to be returning to form as a starter. As early as May 2, Peacock‘s ERA was as high as 5.28. Ever since then, he’s been very efficient from the mound and has dropped that ERA down to 3.59. Game Recap: Stros Staff Stifles Sox. Marisnick, White Blast Houston to 3-0 Win.

Game Recap: Stros Staff Stifles Sox. Marisnick, White Blast Houston to 3-0 Win.

Brad Peacock fans nine in five innings for win. One of the questions the Astros faced at the season’s onset was, who would replace Dallas Keuchel in the rotation? Increasingly it becomes clear, the answer is, one of our own, Brad Peacock. By May 20th, 2018, Keuchel sported a 3-6 record, with a 3.43 ERA, 4.30 FIP and 3.76 xFIP. He finished the season with a 3.74 ERA. After tonight’s game Brad Peacock’s numbers are 5-2, 3.59 ERA, 3.16 FIP and 4.10 xFIP. But for tonight, forget Peacock’s numbers. He wasn’t just throwing strikes, he was firing bullets. He struck out nine White Sox...
