Giants scratch Brandon Belt with wrist sprain

The latest word from sickbay is first baseman Brandon Belt was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a sprained left wrist, caused by a check swing Saturday. Belt left the clubhouse Saturday night with the wrist wrapped and was in manager Bruce Bochy’s original lineup Sunday. While Bochy was meeting with beat writers in the dugout an hour and a half before first pitch, trainer Dave Groeschner called him aside with the news Belt wouldn’t play. Belt has a team-high 16 homers and is hitting .382 in his past nine games, but he’s a .244 hitter on the season. Saturday, Johnny Cueto was...

What Could the San Francisco Giants get for Brandon Belt?

If the San Francisco Giants decide to move Brandon Belt, they could get back a pretty nice haul of quality prospects. That’s certainly not something the San Francisco Giants thought would happen when they signed him to a 5-year, $79 million contract extension in April 2016. But with the team being sellers this year, their […] What Could the San Francisco Giants get for Brandon Belt? - Around the Foghorn - Around the Foghorn - A San Francisco Giants Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Giants fall to Tigers to end six-game win streak

Cain provided some snapshots of the pitcher he was five years ago in a 5-3 loss to the Tigers that ended the Giants' win streak at six games. Cain allowed five runs in six-plus innings, but the fourth and fifth runs cored on Justin Upton's two-out, bases-loaded double in the seventh against George Kontos, which broke a 3-3 tie. Brandon Crawford hit a two-run tying homer in the top half against reigning American League Rookie of the Year and the Tigers' only All-Star, Michael Fulmer, after Brandon Belt doubled. Cain, winless with an 8.31 ERA on the road, had to face a lineup that manager...
