Padres News: Morrow, Offense secure Win for Padres

The San Diego Padres continued their winning in May with another solid win against the Colorado Rockies.  Not with their usual MLB leading offense, but with timely hitting and solid pitching. Padres 3, Dodgers 1: Morrow, Amarista, Norris stop the sweep

Great pitching and a couple of home runs stopped the losing streak and kept the Padres above .500. The Padres ended their first real losing streak of the season, and they did it in classic Padres style: With great pitching and a little timely hitting. Brandon Morrow continues to excel, throwing a solid seven innings for the third time this season while picking up his first win. He struck out 4 and gave up just 5 hits and a walk. On the offensive side of things, Alexi Amarista and Derek Norris came up big to beat LA 3-1. The top of the first was a pretty good clue that today's game was going...

Game 20 Preview: 04/26 Padres vs. Dodgers

The Padres have one last chance, this afternoon, to prevent a sweep at the hands of the Dodgers and salvage a win in this three-game set. Brandon Morrow goes to the hill in the series finale, looking for success in his first ever outing against Los Angeles. The right-hander still has yet to notch a win this season, going decision-less with a 3.15 ERA in his first three starts. He struggled in his latest outing, giving up five runs through six innings in Colorado. Prior to that he had held up a 1.29 ERA over his first two starts of the season. Although Morrow has never faced the Dodgers...

Game 15 Preview: 04/21 Padres @ Rockies

Coming off one of the best offensive performances in the team's history, the Padres will try to clinch a series win split tonight in game 2 at Coors Field. Following a career outing from Odrisamer Despaigne last night, Brandon Morrow gets the ball for his third career start against the Rockies. It's been almost five years since Morrow faced Colorado. In his two prior starts against them, he went 0-1 despite a 2.00 ERA. He only gave up two runs on eight hits while striking out nine batters. It's a small, but impressive sample size in the Colorado ballpark. In his first two starts as a Padre...

Game 10 Preview: 04/15 Padres vs. Diamondbacks

It's Jackie Robinson Day and a series win is on the line tonight as the Padres and Diamondbacks play the rubber game of a three-game set at Petco Park. On the mound for San Diego will be Brandon Morrow, making his second start for the team. Morrow's 2015 debut was a successful one - he kept the Giants scoreless for seven innings, allowing only four hits and three walks while striking out seven batters en route to the Padres' first home win of the season. In his seven-year career in the majors, Morrow has only faced the Diamondbacks once, and it didn't go so well. He lasted only four...

Padres 1, Giants 0: Morrow shines in debut

The Padres' new look offense has been missing in action since leaving Los Angeles on Wednesday, but the pitching has stepped up in a big way. Odrisamer Despaigne had a big day in yesterday's home opener, and Brandon Morrow looked just as good today. Morrow's line in his Padres debut? 7 innings pitched, 0 runs, 4 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. He was backed up by Joaquin Benoit and Craig Kimbrel, who both threw perfect innings. Though the first seven and a half innings of the game went scoreless, they weren't without entertainment. The Friars' first hit of the game came in the first...
