Daily Red Sox Links: Andrew Benintendi, Brandon Workman, Dave Dombrowski

In today’s links, Andrew Benintendi finds success, Brandon Workman is effective and we look forward to trade season. Andrew Benintendi might just have his swagger back. (Peter Abraham; Boston Globe) It’s been and up and down year for Red Sox relievers and Brandon Workman has been more on the up side. (Rich Thompson; Boston Herald) At Over the Monster, the Red Sox are all we care about, but that’s not how everyone is wired, especially when Lord Stanley’s Cup visits. (Rob Bradford; WEEI) But its all about baseball season now. (Chad Jennings; The Athletic) ($$) Dave Dombrowski has...

Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 5: Michael Chavis hits the game-winner in a rollercoaster game

I’ve re-written this headline and sub-header about five times now and I’m done. Well this was a wild one. The first two games of this series in Toronto were blowouts, with each team grabbing one win. This was a close affair, though, with the Red Sox having leads for most of the evening but never really getting to pull away. In today’s links, we talk all about relievers of the past and present. Brandon Workman is pitching at an especially high level right now. (Rob Bradford; WEEI) Marcus Walden deserves some attention as well. (Sean McAdam; Boston Sports Journal) ($$) Koji Uehara didn’t pitch his entire career for the Red Sox, but some of the best work of that career came in Boston. (Rob Bradford; WEEI) Rafael Devers did something like Michael Chavis which is a very good thing right now. (Christopher Smith; MassLive) The Houston Astros will be this year’s final boss. Ultimately Sunday’s win was just a victory in the middle of May, but it felt more important than that. (Chad Finn; Boston.com) This past weekend’s series was, it at least could be argued, a measuring stick for a Red Sox team that is still trying to reach its final form. (Jen McCaffrey; The Athletic) ($$) Once upon a time, Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman and Ryan Pressly were all part of the same minor-league rotation. Now, they are all having big-time success in the majors by moving away from their fastball. (Alex Speier; Boston Globe) Michael Chavis may have found a new good luck charm....
