2019 Marlins Season Preview: Brian Anderson

For all of their missteps, the old regime deserves some credit for drafting and developing BA. Skepticism about the 2019 Miami Marlins is understandable. Simply put, they don’t have very many good major league players! Their offseason free agent acquisitions are all seemingly past their primes, and former top prospects who graduated to the active roster haven’t yet translated their talent into results at the highest level. Brian Anderson is the exception. He is a legitimate building block for the franchise, coming off a 3.4 fWAR campaign with room to get even better. How did he get...

Ballpark enhancements for the 2019 season are still “unfinished,” but hey look, another victory! Our Marlins coverage for Wednesday, March 6. Tuesday’s game coverage Alex Krutchik and Luis Davila spent the day in Jupiter as the Marlins picked up another win. Top performers against the Mets included Brian Anderson and right-hander Riley Ferrell, the Rule 5 draft pick who appears to be a lock to remain with the organization once the regular season begins. They still own the worst run differential in the Grapefruit League, though (minus-18). Sandy on today’s start...

The Marlins ride into the new week on a five-game losing streak. Losers in Lake Buena Vista Alex Contreras made the trip north to cover Sunday’s Marlins-Braves game. Five home runs carried the home team to a 6-5 victory with journeyman infielder Andrés Blanco delivering the walk-off solo shot against non-roster invitee Brian Moran. RIght-hander Tommy Eveld appeared again and still hasn’t surrendered a run this spring. Hungry for their third win, Wei-Yin Chen will start for the Marlins on Monday in Jupiter as they host the Nationals. Expect Lewis Brinson and Brian Anderson to...

Marlins young core players show star potential in 14-6 loss to Mets

Marlins young core players show star potential in 14-6 loss to Mets

Lewis Brinson, Brian Anderson, Isan Díaz and others did their best to compensate for a rough Road Chen start. When you have 45-50 total players involved in these early Spring Training games, it’s impossible to find any significance in the final score. Focus instead on the young players trying to prove themselves, especially in their matchups with major league opponents. The Marlins lost to the Mets 14-6 on Wednesday in Port St. Lucie, but it was easily the most encouraging game from them in Grapefruit League thus far. Lewis Brinson delivered his best performance, and that’s saying a...
