Carlos Beltran is reportedly in Kansas City meeting with the Royals. Buster Olney tweeted that there is a feeling among other clubs that the Royals are offering a three-year, $48 million contract and that Beltran will wind up ending back where he started. We asked a source if the Yankees would budge off their two-year limit for Beltran and the source reiterated that the Yankees will not go three years and $16 million per year for the 36-year-old Beltran.

The Royals' push to reacquire free-agent outfielder Carlos Beltran accelerated Tuesday in face-to-face meetings and negotiations in Kansas City. The Royals pushed Beltran, 36, to the top of their offseason target list once they filled their need for a veteran starting pitcher by signing left-hander Jason Vargas to a four-year deal for $32 million on Nov. 22.

Buster Olney says that Beltran has a 3 year, $48 million offer on the table, and speculates it could be from the Mariners. They've been linked to him a bunch before, but it's always been pretty safely assumed that Beltran wouldn't be all that interested in going to a non-contending team. Still, that's a pretty huge chunk of change to carry a player through his age 39 season, and we know that money talks, especially when it's a player's last...
