Trade Deadline Rumours

Trade Deadline Rumours

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports With the trade deadline about a week away (August 2nd, at 6 Eastern), what would you like to see the Jays do? I’m not wanting a bat at all. Juan Soto would be great, but the asking price will be pretty high. And we are very good in the outfield. I think the only way the Jays would get him is if they take Patrick Corbin too, and I don’t want that contract. And, as much as I’ve always liked Joey Gallo, I’d rather keep Cavan Biggio and Raimel Tapia as left-handed batters. A starter would be handy. And it might allow the team to move...

Blue Jays: What will Biggio and Espinal’s roles be in the second half?

Entering the 2022 season, it appeared as though Cavan Biggio and Santiago Espinal would be in a sort of battle for the role of the Blue Jays starting second baseman. Jays Beat Royals

Jays Beat Royals

Photo by Vaughn Ridley/ Royals 1 Blue Jays 8 Earl Weaver said the secret to winning baseball is pitching, defense and the three-run homer. Oh sure, Dan mentioned this in the ninth inning. Well, I’m not changing it. Today we got the first two and two of the third. Teoscar Hernandez hit a three-run homer in the third and Matt Chapman did it in the fifth. With Alek Manoah being great, that was more than enough. But we put up single runs in the second (Ramiel Tapia singled home Hernandez) and in the sixth (Alejandro Kirk singled in Cavan Biggio). We had 16 hits....

Blue Jays Mid-Term Report Cards: Raimel Tapia

Blue Jays Mid-Term Report Cards: Raimel Tapia

Photo by Justin Casterline/ Raimel Tapia will be the last of the batters that we run through this little exercise. Cavan Biggio only had 153 PA, so we’ll give him and Zimmer and the rest an incomplete Tapia came over from the Rockies with Adrian Pinto for Randal Grichuk. I thought Colorado might be the right place for Randal, that the thin air might add a bit to his power numbers. I was wrong apparently. Grichuk is hitting .240/.280/.376 with 8 home runs in 72 games for the Rockies. As usual, he started off great, he was hitting .333/.388/.483 at the end of April...
