Blue Jays: So Many Options with Cavan Biggio

In 2016, the Toronto Blue Jays drafted a 21-year old from the University of Notre Dame in the fifth round and 162nd overall.  Three years later the team would be calling him up to the major leagues and he would quickly become not just an impact player, but a very important piece to the success […] Blue Jays: So Many Options with Cavan Biggio - Jays Journal - Jays Journal - Toronto Blue Jays News, Rumors and Fan Community

The season that was: Cavan Biggio

The season that was: Cavan Biggio

Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/ A look at Cavan’s 2020 season. We’ve been following Cavan Biggio for a few years now.The Blue Jays drafted Cavan in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. In 2017 he took a lot of walks (74 in 556 PA) and had many strikeouts (140). Before the 2018 season, we had him #34 on our prospect list. He seemed to go to the plate and wait for either a strikeout or a walk. He was patient, but, as Matt said, “he was not particularly discriminating in terms of differentiating balls and strikes, and ended up behind in a lot of counts and looking at strike 3.” His plan...

Cavan Biggio narrowly misses MLB lead in PA

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports Like father, almost like son (for now) After the Blue Jays clinched a postseason with a win against the Yankees two Thursdays ago, Charlie Montoyo started resting his regulars the final weekend before the postseason. First up with Cavan Biggio, who had his first full offday of the season on the Friday (twice before he came in pinch hitting for the 8th spot in order). Though perhaps or even probably the right call from the team perspective, it did cost Biggio some “black ink” on his historical record. Before the off-day, Biggio was leading the major...

Moves I’d like to see the Jays make this off-season

Moves I’d like to see the Jays make this off-season

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports We’ll be talking a lot about what we would like to see the Blue Jays do over the winter. I thought I’d start with a few ideas. I really would like to see improvement in defense. If our defense was better (it doesn’t have to be great, just better) our pitchers will look much better. I think an improvement in two spots would have a domino effect. If we could improve at short and center field, it could make the other positions look better. I’d like us to find an excellent defensive shortstop, move Bo Bichette to second, likely move Cavan Biggio to...

Tonight’s lineup: Zeuch starts

Tonight’s lineup: Zeuch starts

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports It looks like there has been a change in starting pitcher for tonight. I thought Matt Shoemaker was to start, but now the Blue Jays are saying T.J. Zeuch gets the start. I hope there isn’t a injury reason for the switch. Charlie Montoyo is to talk to the media soon so we’ll hear why the change was made. Bo Bichette and Randal Grichuk both sit today. Joe Panik plays short and Jonathan Davis is in center. Today's Lineups ORIOLES BLUE JAYS Austin Hays - LF Cavan Biggio - 3B Jose Iglesias - SS Jonathan Villar - 2B Ryan Mountcastle -...
