Brewers shut out by Cardinals in series finale

Brewers shut out by Cardinals in series finale

MILWAUKEE -- Zach Davies, Chase Anderson and Jhoulys Chacin did little in the Brewers' first series at home to quell concerns about this starting rotation. Including Chacin's 6-0 loss to Carlos Martinez and the Cardinals on Wednesday night at Miller Park, the trio combined to surrender 17 runs (13 earned) in 15 1/3 innings on 23 hits, including five home runs. It's up to left-hander Brent Suter to reverse those fortunes when the Cubs come to Miller Park for the first of four games on Thursday night.

Milwaukee Brewers: Did the ‘bullpen day’ strategy work?

The Milwaukee Brewers skipped Chase Anderson and went with a ‘bullpen day’ on Monday. Did the strategy pay off? Most were surprised when Dan Jennings was announced as the starter, but the strategy became clear after he was lifted after just one batter. Milwaukee Brewers Craig Counsell must have had a hunch that the St. […] Milwaukee Brewers: Did the ‘bullpen day’ strategy work? - Reviewing the Brew - Reviewing the Brew - A Milwaukee Brewers Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

St. Louis Cardinals: Brewers to skip Chase Anderson against Cardinals Monday

The Milwaukee Brewers will skip their Opening Day starter against the St. Louis Cardinals and use their bullpen arms throughout the game. Could the Cardinals take advantage of that and dominate? The St. Louis Cardinals have been on fire as of late, winners in their last six of seven games. They are also fighting for […] St. Louis Cardinals: Brewers to skip Chase Anderson against Cardinals Monday - Redbird Rants - Redbird Rants - A St. Louis Cardinals Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Milwaukee Brewers name Dan Jennings as the ‘opener’ for tonight’s key matchup with St. Louis

Or ‘Out-Getter’; this makes me nervous The Brewers have announced their decision on who will get the ball to begin tonight’s game in Busch Stadium. Lefty Dan Jennings will go for the Crew, and it’s likely a true ‘opener’. He’ll face Matt Carpenter to lead off the game, and I guess the Brewers will play it by ear from there. Tonight’s initial out getter in St. Louis will be Dan Jennings. It will be his first Major League start after 381 career relief appearances. pic.twitter.com/5PDu60lrpF— Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) September 24, 2018 Chase Anderson, originally...

Milwaukee Brewers: No Chase Anderson on Monday?

The Milwaukee Brewers announced that starter Chase Anderson will get skipped on Monday in favor of a ‘bullpen game’. Why? Counsell on the decision to not start Anderson in STL: “We feel like every game is something where we try to piece together the best way to get 27 outs, and with what we have […] Milwaukee Brewers: No Chase Anderson on Monday? - Reviewing the Brew - Reviewing the Brew - A Milwaukee Brewers Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Brewers will skip Chase Anderson’s start Monday in St. Louis

Craig Counsell is electing to go with a bullpen game in the first of three games that will likely decide the NL’s top wildcard The Brewers have a 2-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for the first wildcard with 6 games to play and a 3-game series starting tomorrow in St. Louis. It goes without saying that the next three games will be some of the most important the Brewers have played this year, and Craig Counsell isn’t taking any chances. He’s already announced that he’s bumping Chase Anderson, who was scheduled to start the series opener Monday night, from the rotation and will...

Milwaukee Brewers: What To Do With Chase Anderson?

Chase Anderson got the start in a very important game against the Reds on Tuesday night, and took a crucial loss for the Milwaukee Brewers. Anderson allowed a first inning home run to Jose Peraza and that ended up being everything the Reds needed to get the victory. The issues with home runs have plagued […] Milwaukee Brewers: What To Do With Chase Anderson? - Reviewing the Brew - Reviewing the Brew - A Milwaukee Brewers Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Milwaukee bats go silent: Reds 3, Brewers 1; Lorenzo Cain leaves game with intercostal discomfort

Nothing happening at the plate tonight WP: Sal Romano (8-11) LP: Chase Anderson (9-8) Save: Raisel Iglesias (28); Homeruns: Cin - Jose Peraza (14); Mil - none Lots of players, little results in this Box Score The Milwaukee Brewers (86-66) lost a crucial late season game at Miller Park tonight to the last place Cincinnati Reds (65-87) by putting up little resistence at the plate and losing 3-1. Their lead over the St. Louis Cardinals shrinks to 2 games as they took care of Atlanta. The Cubs are up big early on the D’Backs, so it looks like a 3.5 game deficit in the division going into...

Game Thread #152: Cincinnati Reds (64-87) @ Milwaukee Brewers (86-65)

Brewers look to start a final kick with a series win Game two of the three game set with the Cincinnati Reds (64-87) comes up tonight at Miller Park as the Milwaukee Brewers (86-65) continue their chase for the NL Central crown and their defense of their top spot in the Wild Card rankings. It’s all so confusing. Chase Anderson’s spot in the rotation comes up tonight, and the righty is 9-7 with a 3.85 ERA. Lately Craig Counsell seems satisfied with five good innings from his starters, but we haven’t seen a really good start in a while so perhaps we might. Even the scoreless outings...
