The other day, I wrote about the fact that Chone Figgins was still out there unsigned. He was basically freely available, since the Mariners are on the hook for his 2013 salary, and it seemed to me to say something that no one was even rumored to be so much as interested in Figgins' services. Of course he would eventually get a job, but no one was in a rush to give one to him. That was how far Chone Figgins had fallen. Figgins has got a job now. And it's just about perfect. Call it a surprise. Call it a breakthrough. But Kyle Seager isn’t about to let you call his 2012 season with the Seattle Mariners an aberration. The offseason, obviously, isn't finished. We know this because the Seattle Mariners aren't yet playing baseball games. We know this also because we know that it's February, and Kyle Lohse is still out there as an unsigned free agent. Michael Bourn is also still out there as an unsigned free agent, and Bourn's sabermetric numbers are incredible. Someone still needs to sign Bourn, and the team that lands Bourn will be landing a hell of a center fielder. It could even conceivably be the Mariners! It is not likely to be the Mariners.
