Boston Red Sox Blog | ESPN Boston — As expected, the Red Sox made a few roster cuts today, reassigning right-handed pitchers Chris Carpenter, Terry Doyle and Oscar Villarreal, and left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez to minor league camp. Boston Red Sox Blog | ESPN Boston — FORT MYERS, Fla. -- There will be no BP thrown by pitchers Tuesday at the Fort, only by coaches. Next time pitchers will throw BP will be Wednesday, when Clay Buchholz and Chris Carpenter are scheduled, and John Lackey, Drake Britton and Felix Doubront throw side sessions. By the way, manager John Farrell says Lackey has dropped 17 pounds. To me, it looks like twice as much, at least as measured from last spring. If he throws as well as he looks, he’ll be playing in CitiField in July (All-Star Game).
