Willie Harris 'OK' after leaving game

Nationals Journal | Washington Post — Right fielder Willie Harris left the Nationals' 13-3 win over the Mets in the bottom of the second inning after crashing into outfield fence. In the evening, Harris said over the phone that he was "OK." During the game, a team spokesman said Harris left the game for precautionary reasons. Manager Jim Riggleman said after the game Harris will be checked Tuesday and may have suffered a mild concussion. Harris, chasing what would be a double by Chris Carter, smashed headfirst into the fence. Harris stood, then dropped to a knee and waited for Riggleman and head athletic trainer Lee Kuntz to come ...

Video: Santana discusses injury

Mets Blog | ESPN New York — video Johan Santana discusses the injury that forced him from Thursday's start in Atlanta after five innings. The Mets identified it as a left pectoral strain. Pitching coach Dan Warthen momentarily mentioned Santana's shoulder. Santana has now made 16 starts of five-plus innings while allowing one run or fewer, the most in Major League Baseball. He is three shy of matching the franchise record, by Dwight Gooden in 1985, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Other postgame items: - Angel Pagan replaced Chris Carter for defense in right field in the seventh inning. Pagan's turn never ca...

Mark Trumbo and the Usual Suspects: Angels Upper Minors Report

Halos Heaven — AAA Salt Lake Bees: 68 wins, 69 losses Mark Trumbo, 1B - (27 AB's) .433/.500/.867 with 4 dbl, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 K/4 BB Before the season started, I asked myself how my ranking of Trumbo would change if he hit 30 HR's in the Pacific Coast League, and came to the conclusion that it wouldn't change things significantly if his other skills didn't improve. Well, he's hit 34 now, leads the Pacific Coast League in RBI's and total bases, and (I hope) tellingly outperformed A's uber prospect Chris Carter all season.  Most importantly, he set a career high in walks without letting the strike...

  • Sabermetrics say Wright hasn't improved Mets Blog | ESPN New York Much was made about David Wright’s power outage in 2009. Some speculated that Wright was trying to overcompensate for the move to a new ballpark, while others said his increase in strikeouts was a sign he was still shaky after being hit in the head with a pitch in the second half of last season. Now that 2010 has but a month remaining, it appears as though Wright’s power outage was mostly a one-year blip. Wright has more than doubled his HR total from 2009, restoring his mid-to-high 20’s power that he’d established before. What’s interesting is how and why this...

  • Mets' Perez: My goal is to be in 2011 rotation New York Daily News It's been a lost season for Oliver Perez, as Mets fans know, but Perez may try to make up for his extended spells of inactivity this season by pitching in winter ball in his native Mexico for the Culiacan Tomatillos.
  • Finally, Mets' Perez has 'good' day New York Post WASHINGTON -- Oliver Perez was only the Mets' third-worst pitcher yesterday -- certainly a step in the right direction for the befuddled lefty. On a day Mike Pelfrey and Ryota Igarashi were a mess, Perez actually gave the Mets some stability by allowing one run over two innings in their...
