Nationals make third round of cuts (updated)

Washington Post — Updated, 12:45 p.m. The Nationals held their third round of cuts this spring, sending eight players down to the minor leagues. Starters Ryan Perry and Yunesky Maya, reliever Erik Davis, first baseman Chris Marrero, catcher Jhonatan Solano and outfielder Corey Brown were reassigned to Class AAA Syracuse. Nationals trim eight from roster

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Washington Nationals made another wave of roster cuts Monday and optioned the following players to Triple-A Syracuse: pitchers Ryan Perry, Erik Davis and Yunesky Maya, first baseman Chris Marrero, catcher Jhonatan Solano and outfielder Corey Brown. In addition, the Nationals also reassigned pitcher Ross Ohlendorf and shortstop Zach Walters to their minor-league camp.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Nationals manager Davey Johnson told MLB.com on Friday that he plans on giving Chris Marrero a serious look this spring but admits his chances of making the 25-man roster are slim.
