Indians activate Vinnie Pestano

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Indians have activated reliever Vinnie Pestano from the 15-day disabled list, the club announced Friday. Pestano was effective in a rehab assignment and appears to have put his elbow injury behind him. Expect him to return to a setup role in front of closer Chris Perez.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Indians pitcher Chris Perez warmed up in the bullpen in the eighth inning Sunday against the Tigers. The right-hander felt some stiffness in his right shoulder after a couple of pitches, which kept him out of the game. Perez told The Plain Dealer that his injury was not in the same place as the shoulder injury that kept him sidelined for much of spring training. Perez said he should be available for Monday's doubleheader against the Yankees. He has struck out seven and has not allowed a run in his last six innings against the Yankees, dating to 2011.

Columbus Dispatch — DETROIT (AP) — Ubaldo Jimenez outpitched Justin Verlander, and Cleveland’s Chris Perez got Miguel Cabrera to hit a game-ending groundout with two on to preserve the Indians’ 7-6 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night. Verlander (4-3) was erratic early, allowing three runs in the first two innings. He settled a bit after that, but the Indians took a 6-1 lead before Detroit closed the gap with a four-run seventh.

Chris Perez earns fifth save

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Indians closer Chris Perez notched save No. 5 Wednesday night at home against the Athletics. He closed out a 4-3 win.  Perez needed 25 pitches to record three outs in the ninth. He walked a batter and gave up a hit but also had a strikeout. His ERA is at 0.75 and he hasn't allowed a run since his second appearance of the season on April 3 in Toronto.
