Red Sox Will Not Make Offers To Their Eight Free Agents

Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced today that the team will not make qualifying offers to any of its eight eligible free agents (Mitch Moreland, Blaine Boyer, Fernando Abad, Chris Young, Doug Fister, Rajai Davis, Eduardo Nunez). A ninth free agent (Addison Reed) was not eligible for a qualifying offer due to being traded during the 2017 season. Thus, the player most observers thought would be offered a deal—Eduardo Nunez—will not likely be back.

POLL: Support For Red Sox Signing Nunez Increases

Further voting in our latest FenwayNation Poll shows increasing support for the idea of the Red Sox trying hard to keep soon-to-be free-agent Eduardo Nunez. As the table shows, more than seven in ten (72%) now name Nunez as the players Boston should bring back, followed distantly by Addison Reed (12%), Mitch Moreland (7%), Doug Fister (3%), and 1% each for Fernando Abad, Rajai Davis and Chris Young. And, 4% think the Red Sox should just let all nine free-agents go. You can still vote in the poll HERE.
