MLB Roundup 10/21: Dodgers win Game 7, will take on Sox in World Series

And the Marlins make a big splash. Dodgers advance to take on Sox in World Series Saturday was a special day in baseball with a Game Seven scheduled in Milwaukee to determine who would represent the National League in the 2018 World Series. There’s nothing quite like a Game Seven in sports, and the buzz around this one was understandably high. Milwaukee, going up against young rookie Walker Buehler, got the crowd rocking early too. Christian Yelich, the likely NL MVP, came up in the bottom half of the first and blasted a line drive just over Yasiel Puig’s glove and just over the wall....

Brewers’ season ends one game shy of World Series, Dodgers win Game 7, 5-1

Brewers’ season ends one game shy of World Series, Dodgers win Game 7, 5-1

So close. The 2017 Milwaukee Brewers were one game away from making the playoffs. It turns out the 2018 Milwaukee Brewers were one game away from making the World Series. We can all hope the next progression leaves us feeling better than we do tonight. Regardless of how it ended, this was, simply put, a magical season. Early on, it felt like that magic could translate into the team’s first World Series appearance in 36 years. Christian Yelich, this year’s presumptive National League MVP, the man who carried the Brewers across the line so many times in the second half when no one else in...

Milwaukee Brewers Need Christian Yelich, Jesus Aguilar Out of NLCS Slumps

The Milwaukee Brewers took one of three games in Los Angeles to force the 2018 MLB Playoffs NLCS back to Milwaukee for the final. Gamethread: Dodgers at Brewers, NLDS Game 6

Gamethread: Dodgers at Brewers, NLDS Game 6

What are you doing reading this post? It’s Friday night - go have a life! I’m torn about this series. On the one hand, I like the Milwaukee Brewers a little. They fill out the underdog role well, having won only one pennant and zero World Series in their history. Their winningest manager, Phil Garner, had a .477 winning percentage, which pretty much defines mediocre, and it only was that high because his first team finished 22 games over .500. They sent the Cubs packing this year. Christian Yelich is a nice Face of the Franchise. There’s a lot to like. On the other hand, I worry that...

Brewers think the Dodgers may be stealing their signs, per report

More drama. There has been no shortage of drama in this year’s National League Championship Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers. First it was the play at first base where Manny Machado kicked Jesus Aguilar, which Christian Yelich called “a dirty play by a dirty player.” Then it was The Wade Miley Gambit, where the lefty was scheduled as the game five starter but was removed after one batter as the surprise opener for Brandon Woodruff. Now we can apparently add another layer to the intrigue. According to a report from Robert Murray of The Athletic, some...

Brewers' Christian Yelich has always put in hard work to become the player he is today. Just ask this Thousand Oaks gym

The poster of Christian Yelich is almost hidden in a far corner of the gym, next to a dusty fan, above a collection of medicine balls. The accomplishments attributed to Yelich are a bit outdated: “2010 MLB 1st-round pick” and “MLB Gold Glove winner.” The walls are dominated by posters of football...

Dodgers have contained Brewers’ Christian Yelich by giving him little to hit

The frontrunner for the NL MVP award is batting .150 through five NLCS games. Yelich isn't the only straggler in the middle of the Brewers' lineup, but Craig Counsell plans to stick with his stars in Game 6.

Mariners Moose Tracks, 10/18/18: David Phelps, Wade Miley, and Christian Yelich

Happy Thursday! Good morning everyone! We had a couple of pretty exciting games in the playoffs yesterday. That and more on today’s docket... In Mariners news... Greg Johns talked to David Phelps about how he’s approaching this offseason. Around the league... In case you missed it, the Brewers baffled everyone when Wade Miley started the game by facing just one batter. In the ALCS, there was some drama when a fan interfered with a potential home run for José Altuve. Don’t let anyone tell you that Clayton Kershaw can’t pitch in the playoffs. Clayton Kershaw: 8th postseason...

Christian Yelich calls Machado play a ‘dirty play by a dirty player’

The MVP-to-be doesn’t hide his feelings on Manny Machado’s collision with Jesus Aguilar at first base The Brewers lost Game 4 of the NLCS and pitcher Gio Gonzalez for the rest of the playoffs in the early-morning hours Wednesday, but almost suffered another loss when a play involving Manny Machado and Jesus Aguilar at first base nearly cost the Brewers their cleanup hitter. Machado appeared to intentionally drag his foot across the back of Aguilar’s leg while trying to run out a ground ball, running to the left of the first base foul line. Aguilar came up hobbling, and it caused both...

Late in his career, Ryan Braun still occupies special place in Brewers clubhouse

A product of Granada Hills High, Braun was the 2007 Rookie of the Year and the 2011 NL MVP. He's now almost 35, and in the shadows of Christian Yelich, but still well respected among his Brewers teammates.
