Mets owner Fred Wilpon, the man who lavished a four-year contract worth $60 million on Curtis Granderson, cozied up to the struggling slugger behind the batting cage before Wednesday night's game against the Cardinals at Citi Field. Talk about bringing out the heavy artillery, the Mets will try almost anything to get Granderson going at the plate.

NEW YORK -- Moving to the No. 2 hole has not cured Curtis Granderson's batting woes. Curtis Granderson #3 RFNew York Mets 2014 STATS GM18 HR1 RBI5 R5 OBP.224 AVG.121 Granderson struck out in all three of his at-bats Monday while also reaching by getting hit by a pitch. But he also went 0-for-6 in that series finale against the Atlanta Braves.

NEW YORK -- Terry Collins keeps coming back to the idea that Curtis Granderson will be fine, that this three-week horror show at the start of his New York Mets career is just that, and not a sign that Granderson's $60 million contract will turn into another Mets disaster. "We're going to all look up in July, and this is all going to be forgotten," Collins said late Sunday afternoon. Not all of it, Collins hopes. The Mets manager would like to think that we'll long remember the 14th inning Sunday as the moment when Granderson's Mets career turned positive.

“Real New Yorkers are Mets fans,” are the most remembered words by Mets new outfielder Curtis Granderson during his press conference this past offseason. Granderson entered 2014 with high expectations, and has seemed to fail each and every one of them. Granderson has a batting average well below .200 after playing in 19 of the Mets first 20 games. Of course, there is still time to turn everything around. Granderson signed a four-year deal with the Mets, and is playing in one of the worst hitting ballparks in Major League Baseball. So what can Granderson do to prove all of his...

NEW YORK -- Finally, Curtis Granderson has a New York Mets moment. Does it change everything? No, of course not, but Granderson's sacrifice fly in the 14th inning did give the Mets a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves Sunday. It gave Granderson something positive on his Mets ledger. And it brought the Mets back to .500, after an eventful and mostly negative weekend. One win doesn't change everything. Granderson, the Mets' $60 million free-agent signing, is still struggling, even after being moved out of the cleanup spot.
