Astros Open Forum: What are the Astros Needs in 2019? What Will They Do?

Astros Open Forum: What are the Astros Needs in 2019? What Will They Do?

We know Jeff Luhnow reads TCB. Tell him what to do. I’ll start this. As things stand now, these are the weak spots on the Astros likely 2019 roster that the they are going to need to improve. The Astros are probably losing three of their five starting pitchers for next year; Dallas Keuchel, FA. Charlie Morton, FA/possible injury. Lance McCullers, probable injury. The Astros are probably losing their main DH, Evan Gattis, who was very subpar anyway. Do you trust Tyler White here, or was his September slump the real White? The Astros are probably losing Marwin Gonzalez, utility player/left...

Astros speculation: Did Dallas Keuchel say goodbye to Houston?

Dallas Keuchel tells Houston Astros fans that he loves them. Its only been about 24 hours since the Astros were eliminated from the playoffs by the Red Sox. There are a lot of questions running through Jeff Luhnow’s mind now as he starts planning for the 2019 squad. Several players will become free agents as […] Astros speculation: Did Dallas Keuchel say goodbye to Houston? - Climbing Tals Hill - Climbing Tals Hill - A Houston Astros Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Red Sox feeling cornered at third base

HOUSTON — Third base continues to haunt the Red Sox.On both sides.Houston’s Alex Bregman made more spectacular plays at the hot corner in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series last night, while Rafael Devers failed to come up with a hard grounder that cost the Red Sox a run in the fifth inning of their 8-2 win over the Astros at Minute Maid Park.Devers didn’t start the game at third, but came on as a pinch runner for Eduardo Nunez in the fourth inning. Nunez had just singled to lead off the inning, but with lefty Dallas Keuchel unlikely to face Nunez’ spot in the order...

Red Sox at Astros Game 3 lineup: Can Boston take control?

Red Sox at Astros Game 3 lineup: Can Boston take control?

It’s Nathan Eovaldi vs. Dallas Keuchel this afternoon in Houston. The Red Sox, a rest day removed from a critical Game 2 ALCS win against the Astros, send Nathan Eovaldi (6-7. 3.81 ERA) the mound against former Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel (12-11, 3.74 ERA) this afternoon in Houston (5:09 p.m., TBS). About Game 3: Eovaldi, who’s been a low-key season saver, looks to bring his magic to Minute Maid Park. It’s a tough ask. He started one game there this year, giving up four earned runs in six innings. That might not be good enough tonight, but it wouldn’t be disqualifying,...

What can Orioles' lefty prospects learn from Astros Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel?

Try as the Orioles might to follow the blueprint for teams that have bottomed out and built themselves back into contenders, plenty of luck is required with a rebuilding process that goes sideways just as often as it goes well. So, as they sit and watch as the Houston Astros, who successfully rebuilt...

FEAR THE BEARD: a Dallas Keuchel appreciation story

FEAR THE BEARD: a Dallas Keuchel appreciation story

Over the past few weeks, there has been a ton of discussions on who should be on the Playoff roster. One of the most shocking things to me, was that Dallas Keuchel was often listed as the player who should either be off the roster, or how people have a lack of trust in him. And while I understand it, it just didn’t sit right with me. So I took a step back to analyze just how lucky we are to have Dallas on our team. 2019 MLB Draft Prep and the Astros

2019 MLB Draft Prep and the Astros

What lessons can be learned from how the Astros have built their ballclub? Carlos Correa. Jose Altuve. George Springer. Lance McCullers. Dallas Keuchel. Yuli Gurriel. Alex Bregman. All were signed to their initial affiliated contract by the Houston Astros. Some were from the draft. Some were from international waters. If you were to put together the excess value created from these names, you would have a whiff of why the Astros are looking so potent now. Even with a major misfire like Mark Appel, they still had plenty of other pieces with which to obtain Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole in...
