Nats Insider | CSN Washington USA Today Sports ImagesDan Haren struck out 10 over six innings but received no decision.Game in a nutshell: Dan Haren gave the Nationals a performance that at times was dominant (10 strikeouts in six innings) though it did include back-to-back homers in the top of the second. With the game tied in the eighth, Drew Storen surrendered back-to-back, two-out, RBI hits to put Philadelphia on top. The Nationals lineup then couldn't complete a rally la...

Gaslamp Ball Dan Haren was one of several free agents Padres fans had hoped Josh Byrnes would sign to bolster a weak starting rotation. He now has a 5.54 ERA after being hammered for 7 runs in 5 innings this afternoon. Meanwhile, Andrew Cashner turned in his third quality start in a row, his fourth in his six starts. While Tim Stauffer struggled out of the bullpen, Joe Thatcher and Tyson Ross shut down the Nats for 2.2 innings to wrap things up. I know I'm burying the lede here, but I want to give some love to the Padres pitching staff, who have gone from a 4.53 ERA in March and April to a 3.49 ERA...

Washington Nationals May 19, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy Nationals starting pitcher Dan Haren has turned his season around in recent starts by eschewing strikeouts and ignoring the radar gun. While that has led to three quality starts in his last four, I’m going to go ahead and be that guy who argues with success. Haren has made a point of publicly noting his lack of concern with his declining fastball velocity, claiming that overthrowing was the cause of his early seasons struggles. And while that may be the case, I also cannot endorse Haren as a reliable Fantasy option if he is just pitching to contact. This is still a guy who struggles to keep th...
