Mets interested in Eveland, Carlyle returns

Carlyle Eveland NEW YORK -- The Mets maintain interest in re-signing Dana Eveland and Buddy Carlyle, even though both relievers were cut loose after the season to avoid $1 million-plus salaries in 2015 as arbitration-eligible players. The Mets particularly could use Eveland, since they are light on left-handed relief beyond Josh Edgin. Still, Eveland did not pitch after Sept. 6 and eventually was sent home during the season with inflammation in his pitching elbow.
