Bard allowed one run in 2/3 innings without issuing a hit because he walked four batters. Bard has had trouble throwing strikes since being demoted to Portland in late April. Saturday was the fourth-straight outing he failed to throw more than 50 percent of his pitches for strikes. In fact, he's had a 37 percent strike rate (29 of 79 pitches) since his return, according to WEEI.
