Are The Red Sox Interested In Signing David Freese?

David FreeseNick Cafardo (of Red Sox House organ Boston Globe) is hinting that the team may have interest in free-agent third baseman David Freese. This, despite the fact that they are paying a King's Ransom to have Pablo Sandoval man the 'hot corner'. They theory is that Freese could be a back-up option (though not a strict platoon option) against left-handed pitchers. Of course, Freese is used to a more meaningful role that occasional sub—so it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to bring him to Fenway. Anyway, stay tuned.
