CBSSports.com Fantasy Reds closer Aroldis Chapman blew his second save of the season in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia. It looked like Chapman had everything under control after he picked off Cliff Lee, who was pinch hitting for Delmon Young -- yes, you read that right -- but back-to-back homers from Erik Kratz and Freddy Galvis -- yes, your read that right -- tied the game and then gave Philadelphia the victory. Chapman has already given up three home runs this season, one less than all of last year. His ERA rose to 3.32 as a result.

He's now hit safely in four of his last five games, which includes three multi-hit performances. May 16, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy Phillies outfielder Delmon Young was held out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Giants for the first time in eight games since he came off the disabled list April 30. Unfortunately, Young has struggled since recording two hits in his first game, entering play Wednesday mired in a 1-for-17 slump. "His hitting is starting to come around," Phillies manager Manuel said, per The Philadelphia Inquirer. "He's been getting some at-bats and stuff, but he's been in the minor leagues against young pitchers. He hasn't seen any command and the location like major-league pitchers have got. That mak...
May 9, 2013Courier-Post Delmon Young apparently has a good memory.
Philadelphia Phillies May 4, 2013Beerleaguer Right-handed hitters are batting 102 points lower than lefties this season against Ricky Nolasco, and had an OPS 83 points lower than lefties from 2010-12. Delmon Young has a .702 OPS against right-handers since 2010. And yet, Young is in the lineup, batting fifth Friday night instead of Laynce Nix. Nix hasn't seen Nolasco a whole lot, but he has reached base in 7 of 16 plate appearances against him, adding more mystery to Charlie Manuel's decision to go with...

Twinkie Town With no game on Thursday and no roster moves to discuss, here's a brief update on what your favorite former Twins are doing. And Delmon Young. Ben Revere. No, Vance Worley hasn't gotten off to the best start. And Trevor May isn't setting the world afire in AA. But Ben. Oh, Ben. Despite his usual Web Gemmery (NOT A WORD), Ben's bat is not doing him any favors. His current line is .204/.245/.226. Charlie Manuel has dropped him from the top of the Phillies order to the bottom (still ahead of the pitcher, I assume). Fortunately, Philadelphia sports fans are noted for their pati...
Minnesota Twins May 3, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy The reports that Domonic Brown seems to have earned the trust of Phillies manager Charlie Manuel are especially encouraging with Delmon Young off the DL. More than likely, John Mayberry will be the outfielder vacating the lineup for Young, allowing Brown to continue to build off his recent 12-for-31 (.387) stretch. By now, my thoughts on Brown are pretty well documented. Long story short, I believe in him, and I'm not alone. Manuel, who's known for his hitting expertise, clearly believes in him, and CBSSports.com user "ninetyonemph" believes in him, making a good point about line-drive rate in...
May 3, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy With Delmon Young back in the lineup for the Phillies and in right field, John Mayberry has added center field to his wide range of positions. Mayberry has started four of his past five games in center and manager Charlie Manuel said he could mix into a rotation with struggling regular Ben Revere at the spot when Revere is healthy. Capable of playing all three outfield positions and first base, Mayberry has appeared in all but three of the Phillies' 29 games this season and has 10 extra-base hits. He had a three-game hitting streak end with an 0-for-3 day while starting in center field Thursda...
May 3, 2013CBSSports.com Fantasy Phillies right fielder Delmon Young, who was originally scheduled to make his right-field debut Wednesday against the White Sox, is instead in the lineup as the team's designated hitter. Manager Charlie Manuel has decided to delay Young's defensive debut after he was hit by a pitch in Tuesday's game. "It’s nothing crazy," Young told MLB.com. "I’ve got a big fat knot right there. Today was one of those days where if I had to play out there I could have played." The Phillies are without the luxury of a DH starting Thursday when they return home to begin a series against the Marlins. Young is ten...

Philadelphia Phillies May 1, 2013Beerleaguer Delmon Young isn't in the field after all. He'll DH again as the Phillies look for a series split in Cleveland. Young reached base the first three times he came to the plate Tuesday night. He'll try to do some more damage Wednesday against a wild righty in Trevor Bauer. Bauer walked seven batters in his only start this season and has 20 walks in 21.1 innings at the major-league level. Laynce Nix is in right field. Nix is 5-for-32...
