Eric Chavez, A's former third baseman, returning to Oakland

Eric Chavez officially joins Oakland A's television team

The former Athletics Gold Glove-winning third baseman will be the color commentator for 20 games on CSN California in 2015. Comcast Sportsnet California announced that former A's third baseman Eric Chavez will join the broadcast booth for 20 televised games this year as color commentator. Chavez will additionally have a role as a studio analyst for some A's pre- and post-game shows. Chavez's first game as color commentator will come Friday, April 24 when the A's host the Houston Astros. Scott Hatteberg, Shooty Babbitt, and now Eric Chavez have all taken airtime from the beloved Ray Fosse as the A's color guy. What's the deal? In case you missed it, the A's are close to finalizing a deal with Eric Chavez to be the color analyst on 20 A's broadcasts this season. That marks the third consecutive season that Ray Fosse has been kicked to radio for 20 games.
