Stults and History

Huston Street is an Angel.  Chase Headley is a Yankee.  Cameron Maybin picked a bad time to start using different amphetamines. It’s been a bad week for the Padres already.  Might as well talk a little Eric Stults. By any objective measure, Eric has been awful this season.  He surrenders just under 2 HR a game.  The league is hitting .305 against him.  His xFIP is 4.34, and his -1.0 WAR is the worst among qualified starters in the Majors.  He’s also tied with Kevin Correia (former Padre) for the major league lead in losses (12).  It’s been a professional year to forget. There...

Starting Pitcher Eric Stults Improving His Game For The San Diego Padres

With a 5.76 ERA in his first 15 starts of the season there were reported rumors of removing Eric Stults, at least for a few starts, from the starting rotation. But now, with some of his best performances in two years, Stults is trying to distance himself from that possibility. Entering his start Wednesday in Colorado […] Starting Pitcher Eric Stults Improving His Game For The San Diego Padres - Friars on Base - Friars on Base - A San Diego Padres Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

07/09 Padres Preview: Game 91 @ Rockies

Tyson Ross kept the Rockies to just two runs in last night's game, which amounts to a pretty good outing at the run-friendly Coors Field. Unfortunately those two runs were just enough to beat our Padres, who weren't able to capitalize on opportunities and managed to score only one run (a Rene Rivera solo shot) all night. With the series now even at a game apiece, San Diego looks to Eric Stults to help them secure victory and a happy flight to Los Angeles this afternoon. Stultsy hasn't had the best season so far, pitching to the tune of a 4.96 ERA and a 3-11 record, just two losses short of...

POSTGAME NOTES: Giants lose to guy who never wins; Cain on the Cainings; Belt feels fine in return

Eric Stults took the mound today with a negative-1.4 WAR, per baseball-reference. That’s negative. As in, pick a player from Triple-A and throw him out there, because he’s probably better than Stults. It was the worst WAR of any pitcher… Continue Reading →The post POSTGAME NOTES: Giants lose to guy who never wins; Cain on the Cainings; Belt feels fine in return appeared first on Giants Extra.

Stults, Amarista, Headley Star in Padres Win

A funny thing happened on the way to the pitcher’s duel. After Eric Stults and Matt Cain got through 2.5 innings with nothing on the scoreboard, who should break up the scoreless tie but the Little Ninja, Alexi Amarista, with a bomb to right field [video] to put the San Diego Padres on top of the San Francisco […] Stults, Amarista, Headley Star in Padres Win - Friars on Base - Friars on Base - A San Diego Padres Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

07/04 Padres Preview: Game 86 vs. Giants

Fresh off a three-game sweep of the Reds, our Padres continue their homestand against a team they almost swept just a couple weeks ago as the Giants come to Petco Park looking to get back in the win column after losing their last two games. Eric Stults gets the ball in the series opener seeking his first win since May 10th, or at the very least an end to his streak of six losses in six starts. The lefty is 2-11 with a 5.36 ERA this season, but one of his wins came against these Giants back in April. He tossed six innings of one-run ball, giving up only three hits and issuing no walks. Last...
