Twins 5, Rays 3: Escobar's two homers lift Twins to sixth straight

Six in a row? Six in a row! Chris Archer is typically a tough customer to get runs on, and tonight was no exception. Archer tallied eight strikeouts in 4 innings for a healthy 18 K/9. The Twins weren't able to capitalize on the hits they did get, stranding two in scoring position in the fourth inning. On the other side of the hill, Tyler Duffey was doing his part to keep the Twins in the game. In fact, he didn't allow a hit through 3 innings. And no, he didn't have a special Cy Perez night against them—he looked every bit as bad as his stats say he is, and yet for six frustrating innings the Rays did not score. Here's the deal on Williams Perez. He's not going to strike you out very much (he didn't—his first strikeout came against Evan Longoria in the sixth inning), he's going to walk you some (he did, four batters), and he's going to get you to put the...

Evan Longoria, Asdrubal Cabrera boost Rays' offense

ST. PETERSBURG — While noting the vitality provided by the birth of one career (Richie Shaffer) and apparent re-birth of others (John Jaso, Grady Sizemore), some Rays trace the team's offensive re-invigoration to another source.
