Red Sox 0, Rays 4: Price poor, offense worse, Red Sox worst

There are no positives to be found here. The Rays presented David Price with two groups of players Wednesday afternoon. The first: Logan Forsythe, Evan Longoria, and Brandon Guyer. These were the threats. The guys with big career numbers vs. left-handed pitchers who could really hurt him. The second: all the rest, who he should mostly be able to brush off. Twice through the lineup, that first bunch was 5-for-6 with two doubles and a homer. The rest were 1-for-12 with eight strikeouts. Unfortunately, though, being particularly good against the one group did not make up for being completely...

Andy Sonnanstine trying to comeback as a Knuckleball pitcher!

Andy Sonnanstine is one of the most interesting people to have ever donned a Tampa Bay Rays uniform. In his second major league start, he struck out 10 Marlins -- including seven in a row, which at the time was a franchise record -- however, strikeouts were never a huge part of his game. Sonnanstine became a member of folk lore after a Joe Maddon brain lapse placed Sonnanstine in the starting lineup over Evan Longoria. It was unfathomable at the time, but Sonnanstine came through and collected a double over three plate appearances. During the Rays first visit to the post season,...

Rays' Evan Longoria sore but hopes to play tonight

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria admitted that the left forearm soreness that sidelined him Thursday after forcing him from Wednesday's game was also the reason he missed the June 7 game in Arizona. But he said he is not concerned it is a long-term issue despite two flare-ups in 10 days and hopes to play tonight.

Rays' Longoria takes day off to rest sore body

PHOENIX — 3B Evan Longoria knew it wasn't the best time given how well he has been hitting. That it didn't make much sense with the Rays off Thursday and again Monday. That it was a bit awkward since he had his family with him and other relatives in town to watch. And that it didn't look particularly good with the Diamondbacks …

Tampa Bay Rays News and Links: Is this the best we've ever seen from Evan Longoria?

Evan Longoria has been on one of the best offensive tears of his career Evan Longoria has been in the majors a long time now. It's been over a decade since he was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with the 3rd overall pick in the 2006 draft. Longoria surged through the system and made his debut less than two years later and led the young Rays to the 2008 World Series while Longo picked up the American League Rookie of the Year award. Since then, Longoria's production seemed to have peaked in 2012 and steadily his output has declined with his power seemingly to have disappeared....

Rays 7, Twins 5: LoMo & Longo Bombs Deliver the W

Tampa Bay's power bats were on full display Sunday afternoon as Logan Morrison and Evan Longoria both had two-homer games to overcome another weak outing by a Rays starting pitcher. Home runs have been the name of the game for the Rays season thus far, and Sunday was no exception. The red hot bats for Logan Morrison and Evan Longoria continued to be just that as each of them sported a two-homer game in Minnesota. The New Bash Brothers, alone, were responsible for six of the seven runs scored on the day. A few notable exceptions aside, the story of Tampa Bay's starting pitching this season...

Rays 7, Twins 5: Can't avoid those Longoria home runs

Evan Longoria hit two move home runs in today's game against the Twins. Yes folks, that's FIVE home runs this series hit by just ONE player. I'm not even sure if I should say Twins' starter Tyler Duffey had a bad game or not. Duffey lasted 5.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits and two walks. He even had eight strikeouts! Except oh yeah: three of those hits were home runs. Duffey surrendered another dinger to Logan Morrison and TWO bombs to Evan Longoria. That means Evan Longoria, in this four game series against Minnesota alone, hit FIVE home runs. There was some good news...
