Rays Eager For Slugger To Get His Swing Back

With the second of his two doubles Sunday, Evan Longoria reached a major accomplishment. Sure, breaking Carl Crawford's franchise record was a career milestone. But of more immediate significance, it was just the second of Longoria's 100 games this season in which he rapped more than one extra-base hit.

Breaking News: Other teams wish they had Evan Longoria

Someone stop the leak from the Cardinals front office. With duct tape. Now. One concept kicked around in at least one corner of STL organization: pursue Price&Longoria. But 0 indication actually being discussed w/TB. — Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) July 21, 2014 I get the feeling someone sent Buster a snap chat of the war room in St. Louis, and somewhere on a white board was the name Longoria. Olney dutifully reported earlier today that the Cardinals, Mariners, and Dodgers are best positioned for a David Price acquisition, and then tweeted the above. ...one executive involved in the...

More David Price And Ben Zobrist Trade Rumors With An Evan Longoria Cameo

When it comes to the David Price sweepstakes, it appears as though four teams have emerged as the favorites, the Dodgers, the Cardinals, the Mariners, and the Rays. Despite the Rays playing better the team is still talking with other teams about potential trades that would involve Price and/or Ben […]

Rays Tank: An early arrow

And a low strike. The Rays finished up their sweep of the Twins with a 5-3 win behind Chris Archer. There was a hairy moment. Once more, Grant Balfour was given a chance to save a game and again he was unable to get the job done. The Rays are now 7.5 games back in the American League East, and 6 games back in the wild card. The Oakland A's are trying to trade their high-priced closer, Jim Johnson. The Rays also have a high-priced failed closer. To my knowledge, they are not trying to trade him. FanGraphs finished up their trade value rankings. Evan Longoria, once the star of this series,...

TB 6 - DET 3: Rays play like their old selves; Maddon ejected

Jennings and Zobrist combined for sweet music, Longoria and Sean Rod powered the production, and Cobb did his job for five innings. Nine runs, two HBP's, and an ejected manager made for plenty of fireworks on Independence Day. Ben Zobrist (the evening's shortstop) got the Rays started in the third inning with an RBI double, plating the day's lead off hitter Desmond Jennings. Zorilla knocked it from the right side, and swang arms outstretched for an easy fastball high and away, driving a liner up the right field line. Evan Longoria then led the fourth with a moon shot that drifted back and...

The Rays Tank: Runs Wasted

The Rays Tank: Runs Wasted

The Rays offense managed to collect twelve hits and five runs, but would fall just short in yesterday's 6-5 loss to the Pirates. In a game where Jose Molina collected his second RBI of the season and the offense managed to scratch together twelve hits and five runs, the Rays fell just short of a victory when the would-be game winning run popped out on the first pitch of his at-bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. In the previous inning, Evan Longoria did hit his tenth homerun of the season, but with the tying run on first and two outs in the bottom of the ninth facing Mark Melancon,...
