Rays' Evan Longoria teams with New Balance on new sneaker

ATLANTA — Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has created plenty of lasting memories on the field and at the plate, topped by his Game 162 wild-card clinching home run.

The Rays continue to compete

The Rays have a +17 run differential after May 17, 2015. By comparison, that was a -17 after May 17, 2014. The Tampa Bay Rays ended their three-game set with the Twins on a high-note, by demolishing Minnesota to the tune of an 11-3 score. The team collected a season high 19 hits although, interestingly enough, only four went for extra-bases — all doubles. That is, the meat of the production came on 14 singles and three walks. It was particularly nice to see Evan Longoria and James Loney drive in six total runs (three apiece) on six combined base-hits. Neither attempted to over swing or do...

Rangers 5, Rays 4: The Rays fall short via foolishness

A wild pitch led to a four-run second for Chris Archer. The Rays just flew in from Boston and boy are their immune systems tired. Evan Longoria was scratched from starting tonight, and the Rays lost a one run game. And of course those runs were picked up by the Texas Rangers in a silly way. On Pitching On a night in which Chris Archer reached 100 pitches in less than four full innings pitched and Erasmo Ramirez followed with multiple innings of baseball, did you expect the Rays to win? Yes, the need-be ace of the staff Chris Archer finally blinked, with two bases loaded walks and then a...

Game Notes: Evan Longoria a late scratch

Longoria is suffering from flu-like symptoms, and he's apparently not the only one. Evan Longoria was supposed to play as the designated hitter today, but he was scratched from the lineup a little bit less than two hours before game time due to flu-like symptoms. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, other players in the clubhouse have also been affected by the bug. Joey Butler will take Longoria's place as the designated hitter. -------- Twenty-eight games into the 2015 season, the Tampa Bay Rays have held their own against their division rivals in the American League East....

[THE HANGOVER] What Rays fans need to know today

The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe. Orioles 4, RAYS 2 (boxscore) THE GOOD: Evan Longoria has been hitting better, but there is a reason to think Longo is about to explode offensively. Longoria […]

Rays 1, Yankees 4: Offense, Bullpen Not Sharp In Loss To Yankees

Brandon Gomes and Everett Teaford aren't enough out of the pen to keep the Yankees off the board. The Rays five game winning streak came to an end Monday night at the hands of the Yankees, as did their one day stay atop the American League East. This game was pretty uneventful as a whole, so let's take a look at each three facets of the game individually. Hitting: The biggest threat (meaning multiple men in scoring position) the offense posed was in the first inning when Steven Souza singled and Asdrubal Cabrera doubled with one out. Unfortunately, Evan Longoria struck out and James Loney...

Game Notes: Erasmo and Teaford look to lasso Jays

A win tonight will clinch a second consecutive series victory and extend the Rays winning streak to four games. Here's what the Rays lineup will look like in tonight's game: #Rays lineup: Guyer lf, Souza rf, Cabrera ss, Longoria 3b, Jennings cf, Forsythe 1b, Beckham DH, Elmore 2b, Wilson c, Erasmo p — Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) April 25, 2015 - James Loney will not be in tonight's lineup after going 2-5 with a home run in his return last night. This is a planned absence as the team is looking to ease him back into regular activity after the oblique injury. - Left-handed reliever...
