Alex Cobb knows he’s going to be traded

Marc Topkin recently linked the LAD and CHC to Alex Cobb, and Cobb knows his days with Rays may be numbered Although Alex Cobb is a native of Boston, MA, he attended Vero Beach HS and was drafted out of that school by the Rays in the 4th round of the 2006 draft -- the same draft that saw the Rays take Evan Longoria 3rd overall. Instead of attending Clemson, where he had committed to before the draft, he signed with the Rays for $400,000 and the rest is history. There was a time thereafter where Alex Cobb was thought of as the very best pitcher in the AL East. After the completion of his...

The Rays should trade Evan Longoria, but they won’t

We don’t live in a world of “should.” There’s another piece at the Tampa Bay Times on Life After Longoria — that lingering threat that the Rays cannot afford to keep their franchise player — and frankly, I hated it. There was one quote that caught my eye, though: "This has been my home. I have not thought of going anywhere else. The city and the team and everybody has been great to me. And I love being here. But I love winning more. And that's the simple answer." There are other quotes that put this in more context, but to be clear, Evan isn’t asking to be traded. What he’s...

Tampa Bay Rays News and Links - Rays Prospects Mash Homers

Jake Bauers clobbered a homer, Casey Gillaspie did so from both sides of the plate, and Team USA advances News and Links The Rays snapped their spring losing streak thanks to some mighty blasts from their prospects and face of the franchise. Casey Gillaspie homered from both sides of the plate, Evan Longoria had a solo shot, and Jake Bauers sent one onto the rooftop beyond the right field concourse. Bauers has never been considered a huge power threat, but that tool looks to be developing Kevin Kiermaier made another catch that only Kevin Kiermaier makes Rays Radio continued their...
