Not all Miami Marlins are tinkled pink about Mother’s Day baseballs

Fish Tank | Palm Beach Post — Marlins players will swing pink bats and wear pink wristbands and pink shoes at Dodger Stadium as part of an annual Mother’s Day tradition by Major League Baseball to raise awareness of breast cancer. Today, there’s a new item being added on the field during games — baseballs with pink stitching and logos. Greg Dobbs likely to see more starts at first base

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Marlins infielder Greg Dobbs started his second straight game at first base Monday against the Mets and will likely continue to see more starts after Joe Mahoney (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list. Dobbs finished 2 for 6 with one run, one double and one walk during Monday's 15-inning win. It was Dobbs' fifth multi-hit game this season. He's batting .240 (18 for 75) through 24 appearances. He has one home run, three doubles and seven RBI.

Greg Dobbs' hitting streak at five games

Greg Dobbs takes over as Marlins' first baseman

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Marlins announced Thursday first baseman Casey Kotchman, who suffered a strained left hamstring Wednesday, will be placed on the disabled list Friday. Greg Dobbs, who started in Kotchman's place Thursday at Washington, will see most of the starts at first base in Kotchman's absence, according to The Palm Beach Post. Dobbs entered play Thursday without a hit in two pinch-hit appearances. However, he hit .279 in 254 games for Miami from 2011-12. Unfortunately, he slugged .388 in that span.
