Five other Cardinals were contenders — 1B Paul Goldschmidt, catcher Yadier Molina, CF Harrison Bader, starting pitcher Jack Flaherty and SS Paul DeJong. Molina was denied a 10th Gold Glove. Kolten Wong had been a runner-up himself last year.
