Rockies 3, Padres 1: Is It Still A Gem If There's No Offense To Back You Up?

Ian Kennedy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning today, but a combination of quiet bats and sloppy defense still led to him being tagged with the loss. The Padres offense picked up just four hits in Franklin Morales's six-inning stint. One of those was Xavier Nady's solo shot to left field that led off the fourth inning and provided San Diego's sole run. The wheels fell off of Kennedy's gem in the top of the seventh, starting with a one-out double down the third base line courtesy of Corey Dickerson. That was followed by a walk to Troy Tulowitzki. Then Justin Morneau hit a long fly ball...

7,182: Kennedy loses no-no in 5th on ball that hits the 3B bag

Ian Kennedy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning Thursday before giving up a Nolan Arenado single down the third base line that hit the bag, making it impossible for third baseman Alexi Amarista to make another save. That marks …

Rockies rest slumping Carlos Gonzalez vs. Padres’ Kennedy

No mystery why the Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup against the Padres Thursday afternoon. He's in a slump and has not fared well against Ian Kennedy.

04/17 Padres Preview: Game 16 vs. Rockies

A series win is on the horizon, but the Padres have one more challenge to get through before they can celebrate. Today they'll close out their four-game set against the Rockies with Ian Kennedy on the mound against Franklin Morales. Kennedy is coming off a start against the Tigers in which he gave up four runs in the first four innings before settling down and shutting them out for two more innings. Overall this season, he's allowed eight runs on 16 hits in 17 innings of work, issuing three hits and collecting 16 strikeouts. He has a 3-2 record with a 2.25 ERA in his last eight starts...

04/12 Padres Preview: Game 11 vs. Tigers

Ian Kennedy and Justin Verlander take the mound in the second game of the series at Petco Park. Our Padres opened up the series last night with a fantastic showing against Rick Porcello and the Tigers. Tonight they'll try to keep the ball rolling against Justin Verlander and clinch their first series win of the season. Ian Kennedy will get the ball for San Diego and try to build on a fantastic performance his last time out. He kept the Marlins to just one run on three hits in six innings of work on the road, striking out five batters along the way; the Padres went on to win 4-2. Kennedy...

04/06 Padres Preview: Game 6 @ Marlins

04/06 Padres Preview: Game 6 @ Marlins

After failing to get anything going behind Andrew Cashner last night, our Padres have one last chance to salvage a win this morning at Marlins Park. Ian Kennedy will take the hill in the series finale. He allowed three earned runs in five innings against the Dodgers on Tuesday. After giving up a two-run inning in the 1st to Yasiel Puig, he settled down and kept the Dodgers to one run over the next four innings. But he wasted a lot of pitches along the way - 103 pitches to be exact. Hopefully he can be more efficient today and keep the Marlins off the board. But a good outing by Kennedy...

Dodgers 3, Padres 2: Seth Smith Can Only Hit So Many Homers

The Padres lost a tight game to the Dodgers today. Our boys kept it close, but they were hurt by going an abysmal 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position. Chase Headley was emblematic of the Friars' offensive woes today, going 0 for 4 while grounding into a pair of double plays. Ian Kennedy ran into trouble early on, giving up a leadoff single to Carl Crawford. Yasiel Puig followed that with a monster home run to left field. He cruised for a while after that, retiring 11 of the next 12 batters. He got into a jam once more in the fourth inning, serving up a double to Juan Uribe. He then...

How Each Dodgers Batter Has Fared Against Ian Kennedy

About an hour ago, I took a look at how current Padres have done against today's Dodgers starter Zack Greinke, and it only made sense to flip it around and see how their batters have fared against Ian Kennedy. 04/01 Padres Preview: Game 2 vs. Dodgers

Ian Kennedy and Zack Greinke will face off today for the first time since they caused a brawl last June that resulted in six ejected players and a ten-game suspension for Kennedy. Less than two months later, at the trade deadline, Kennedy became a Padre. In his first start against the Dodgers in an SD uniform, he'll look to put the brawl behind him and help his team beat LA on the mound. Kennedy went 4-2 in ten starts after joining the Padres last season. As a Diamondback, however, he made three starts against the Dodgers, giving up 13 runs in 17 2/3 innings. He collected 12 strikeouts over...

Padres 7, Mariners 2: The Bloggers Are The Real Winners Tonight

Padres 7, Mariners 2: The Bloggers Are The Real Winners Tonight

Dex was super dreamy on Fox Sports San Diego tonight. Yeah, Ian Kennedy was solid tonight, striking out 7 in 5.2 innings while giving up a pair of runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. The offense came out in force, too, with extra base hits from 5 different Padres, including a pair of doubles from America's Finest City's Sweetheart Will Venable. But if you're like me, you tuned in to see the pretty face of our very own Dex during the 5th and 6th innings. He represented us well, calling for robot umps and telling the story of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Jersey. He was joined by Rick of Padres...
