Recapping Week Three of Cincinnati's 2016 Campaign

Recapping Week Three of Cincinnati's 2016 Campaign

by: Jack WardStaff WriterBad series against the Cubs at Chicago week before last and this past weekend another shellacking against the Reds by the Cubs. Thursdays 16-0 score was bad enough, but to add to their embarrassment,  the Reds were no-hit by Jake Arrieta. Making this the worst, most lopsided loss in Reds history! And unfortunately I watched every sickening minute because I didn’t want to miss a possible no-hitter. How thoroughly the Reds were beaten in every way that night. The Reds started last week’s home stand with a 5-1 loss to the Rockies. But they rebounded with 4-3...

After Cubs' Jake Arrieta no-hits Reds, Oakland A's hold longest active no no-hit streak, but not without close calls

For 3,914 games, the Oakland Athletics have recorded at least one hit in every regular season game they've played, but there have been a few close calls in the 25 years since. It's been 3,914 regular season games since the Oakland Athletics recorded no hits against Baltimore Orioles pitchers Bob Milacki, Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson, and Gregg Olson on July 13, 1991. Now that the Cincinnati Reds failed to record a hit against Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta on Thursday, it's now the longest active no no-hit streak in MLB (visualization from Scott Lindholm as of the end of April...

Cardinals news and notes: Yadi, Grichuk, El Gallo, and Prince

Remembering #Leachpacetweets as well as yesterday at VEB As I type this, Jake Arrieta has just completed his second no-hitter in eight months to bring the Chicago Cubs to 12-4, which means they're on pace for a ridiculous final record of 122-40. One thing I miss about the days when Matthew Leach was covering the team for MLB.com were his famed #Leachpacetweets. At the conclusion of each game he'd recount how many games had been played, how many games were left, and how many games the Cardinals were on pace to win. It was when you knew the game for that day was officially done and it was...
