Tyler Glasnow takes pride in not allowing inherited runners to score

Tyler Glasnow came in during the bottom of the second inning of the Pirates’ 7-0 loss to the Washington Nationals Thursday night. With two outs, he whiffed Rhys Hoskins, who had led off that inning with a homer, and stranded two runners inherited from Jameson Taillon.

Jameson Taillon doesn't last two innings in Pirates' loss to Phillies

PHILADELPHIA — Jameson Taillon entered Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a 0.89 ERA, a National League player of the week honor behind him, and his first shutout, a one-hitter, in recent memory.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Have they found their ace in Jameson Taillon?

After yesterday’s complete game shutout have the Pittsburgh Pirates found their ace in Jameson Taillon? The Pittsburgh Pirates had an off-season of turnover much like the two teams that call the state of Florida their home. With one year remaining on his deal, the Pirates shipped out Andrew McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants. CHICAGO — Jameson Taillon was named the National League player of the week Monday after punctuating the first full week of the season with a shutout against the Cincinnati Reds.

Pirates Mailbag: Did the Pirates get rid of their victory song, 'A New Pirate Generation'?

Hello everyone, and welcome to my Pirates mailbag. The Pirates are off to a 7-2 start heading into their first series against the Chicago Cubs. Jameson Taillon is throwing like an ace, Gregory Polanco is looking like an All-Star, and the new guys are making noise on the left side of the infield and the outfield. But many of you seemed interested in ... other aspects of the Pirates fan experience.

Jameson Taillon throws a one-hitter in his first complete game shutout

There are a couple of different ways the Pirates could address their middle-inning relief issues of the first week of the season. But the easiest would just be for their starters to go deeper into games, after a first week in which none of the starters pitched more than six innings.

Jameson Taillon Throws First Career Complete Game in Pittsburgh Pirates Victory

The Pittsburgh Pirates are now 7-2 on the season Before the season started I predicted that Jameson Taillon would be a top-10 pitcher in the National League by the end of the season. So far that prediction is looking pretty good. In Sunday’s 5-0 Pirates victory over the Cincinnati Reds, Taillon went the distance for […] Jameson Taillon Throws First Career Complete Game in Pittsburgh Pirates Victory - Rum Bunter - Rum Bunter - A Pittsburgh Pirates Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Jameson Taillon throws one-hit shutout, Pirates beat Reds 5-0

Eugenio Suarez broke his hand, too, so there’s that additional great news. Folks around the game of baseball have long though highly of Pittsburgh Pirates starter Jameson Taillon. There’s a reason why he was the #2 overall draft pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, and it’s the same reason why he was ranked as high as the #8 overall prospect in baseball during his MiLB career - because the tall righty is really, really good. Taillon’s potential was on full display on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, as he shut the whole damn team out in a complete game effort. Tyler Mahle needed nearly...

Eugenio Suarez hit by pitch on hand, exits game

Eugenio Suarez hit by pitch on hand, exits game

The Reds are down their 3B for at least the rest of the day. Eugenio Suarez took a Jameson Taillon pitch off his right hand in the Top of the 4th inning on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and while he stayed in to run the bases, he exited afterwards and was replaced by Cliff Pennington at 3B. There was no immediate news on the severity of Suarez’s bum hand in the team’s official announcement, however. Eugenio Suárez leaves the game after a hit by pitch in the 4th inning. Cliff Pennington will now play third base.— Cincinnati Reds (@Reds) April 8, 2018 Best case scenario...

Jameson Taillon's refined delivery is already paying dividends

Last season, excess movement in Jameson Taillon’s delivery interfered with his command. A spring spent eliminating that movement appears to have paid off.

Pirates stay unbeaten, hold off Twins in opener at PNC Park

The goodwill was flowing on Monday. The undefeated Pirates returned to PNC Park after salvaging a victory in an extra-inning slugfest, combining for a two-hit shutout and sweeping the Detroit Tigers. Jameson Taillon took the mound and dealt. New third baseman Colin Moran received a curtain call after hitting a grand slam on the first swing he took at his new home ballpark.

Paul Zeise: Jameson Taillon's time has arrived

Gerrit Cole struck out 11 batters Sunday and looked strong in recording his first win of the season. He looked every part of the top-of-the-line pitcher he is supposed to be. Unfortunately for the Pirates, he plays for the Astros now, which means the Pirates are in search of an ace.
