Tuesday night, Marlins utility man Jeff Baker made his first appearance at Nationals Park this season. If things had unfolded differently this winter, Baker could have been playing for the Nationals. The Nationals showed interest in Baker and kept in touch with his agent, Scott Boras, who they’ve done much business with, all winter long. MIAMI – Casey McGehee has just 112 plate appearances as the cleanup hitter in his five-season in the major leagues, but in his first game back after spending a year in Japan he will be in the fourth spot against the Rockies tonight. McGehee will hit behind Giancarlo Stanton and Jeff Baker is in the two hole in manager Mike Redmond’s first lineup for the 2014 season. McGehee has a career .218 average with three home runs hitting cleanup (22-for-101). He has hit fifth most of his career. Redmond wants to use a right-handed hitter in the fourth spot against lefties to better protect Stanton....
