Colorado Rockies left-hander Jeff Francis, a native of Vancouver, will make his second ever start on Canadian soil Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

After a 4-2 loss to the Padres, Rockies left-hander Jeff Francis could soon join recently ousted starter Jon Garland after delivering an underwhelming performance.

To make room for Jeff Francis on the roster Saturday, the Rockies will designate starter Jon Garland for assignment, ending his tenure with the club, according a major league source.

Rockies left-hander Jeff Francis is aware of how crucial his Saturday night start against the Padres will be. His strained groin fully healed after a stint on the disabled list, Francis will fill the spot of right-hander Tyler Chatwood, who's out (sore right triceps).

The Colorado Rockies shook up their roster a bit Thursday afternoon. The club placed veteran left-handed starter Jeff Francis on the 15-day disabled list because of a left groin strain.
