Monday Morning Texas Rangers Update

Photo by Ronald Martinez/ Welcome to the final two weeks of the season ;_; Good morning. T.R. Sullivan writes that the Rangers were swept by the Athletics with a 6-1 loss on Sunday but, more importantly, Joe Palumbo returned and had a solid effort in relief. Jeff Wilson writes that Sunday’s game might be the last blisteringly hot day game in Arlington history while noting the efforts of Palumbo and opener/starter Jonathan Hernandez. The DMN’s Randy Jennings writes that while it was hot on the field, the bats went cold for Texas in Oakland’s last game at The Ballpark. Sullivan has...

74-77 - Rangers shut down in sleepy Sunday sweep by A’s

74-77 - Rangers shut down in sleepy Sunday sweep by A’s

Photo by Ronald Martinez/ At least that’s the last time the Athletics will violate our beautiful Ballpark The Rangers were swept by the Athletics today with a depressing 6-1 loss in a series where the A’s hit 11 home runs over the weekend, but the good news is Oakland is no longer allowed at The Ballpark. Ever. Officially. They will be arrested for trespassing if they so dare. Unless they want to take in an XFL game, I guess. Player of the Game: Nothing really went all too great for the Rangers today but Joe Palumbo was able to take the mound in the bigs again for the first time...

He had been optioned after that game and placed on the AAA injured list. As we are in the September expanded roster period, no corresponding move was necessary. Palumbo was expected to be in the Rangers’ rotation...

Will Nomar Mazara and Hunter Pence be on the Rangers' 25-man roster next season?

Will Nomar Mazara and Hunter Pence be on the Rangers' 25-man roster next season?

On the latest edition of #EvanHelpUs...ME: Expect Ronald Guzman to be a certainty. The Rangers are expected to activate Jeffrey Springs from the IL and will probably recall Locke St. John and/or Kyle Bird. Joe Palumbo will be activated from the IL when his blistered thumb heals. They might add a catcher, though, they really don't have room on the 40-man roster and Isiah Kiner-Falefa can be an emergency catcher. The question will be whether the Rangers call up either of two promising relievers: Joe Barlow or Demarcus Evans. Neither is on the 40-man roster at the moment, but both will have to be...
