A’s Sonny Gray mulling over WBC invite

A’s ace Sonny Gray, a 2015 All-Star, is considering an invite to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, The Chronicle has learned. The right-hander played for the U.S. National team in 2009-10 and often has referred to how much he enjoyed that experience. Three other A’s players are committed to play in the WBC: outfielder Khris Davis is playing for Mexico, reliever John Axford for Canada and reliever Liam Hendriks for Australia.
